Speed 51 Radio, in partnership with Racing Electronics, the worldwide leader in racing communications, have teamed up to bring fans live coverage of our radio broadcasts both on RaceTalkRadio.com and live at-the-track. On Saturday, September 3rd, fans can listen to live coverage of the Lee Fields Memorial 150 from Mobile International Speedway (AL) on their scanners on 454.5000 at the track. For those not in attendance can still listen live on RaceTalkRadio.com.
Veteran Track Announcer Announces His Retirement at Evergreen

Long time veteran racing announcer Scott Ellsworth announced that he would be retiring on September 25th at Evergreen Speedway. A career that started back in 1970 at Portland Speedway in Portland, OR under the tutelage of Ron Ail is ready for closure. During the last 40 years Ellsworth has announced at over 2,800 racing events. That number does not include the countless baseball, soccer, basketball and other specialty shows he has done.
Evergreen Speedway has some special things planned for Ellsworth on that last race. They are inviting his family, promoters, friends, racers and fans to be a part of the very special send off.
Patrick Sheltra Gets Into Christmas Spirit on Labor Day Weekend

Even though Christmas isn’t officially for another three and a half months or so, ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by RE/MAX and Menards championship contender Patrick Sheltra will make a stop at the American Legion Post 306 in Metropolis, Illinois on Sunday, September 5 to start spreading awareness and gather interest for this year’s “Toys for Tots” campaign.
Sunday’s event officially kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with Sheltra scheduled to sign autographs beginning at 2:00 p.m. The American Legion Post 306 is located at 321 Market Street in Metropolis, Illinois 62960-1829, about an hour and a half from the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. The American Legion will also have food and snacks available for purchase with the proceeds going towards the 2010 edition of “Toys for Tots.” Further information about the event is available by calling 618.771.7316.
Bobby Isaac Memorial This Labor Day Weekend at Hickory

Tis the season for Late Model Stock Car "Big Ones" in the Southeast. This weekend it's the 34th annual Bobby Isaac Memorial at Hickory Motor Speedway in NC. This year's event will be a two-day show with Sunday, September 5th featuring practice and qualifying for all divisions as well as features for the Tarheel Vintage and East Coast Flathead cars. On Monday, the Late Model Stock Cars will compete in the Bobby Isaac Memorial 150-lap race. A 50-lap Limited Late Model race will also be on the card
DIRT Mods Heat Up the Empire State as Points Races Wind Down

Fans will be treated to some of the most exciting racing of the season this weekend as the 2010 racing season gears up for Super DIRT Week in October. Labor Day Weekend will feature a double points Championship night at Canandaigua Speedway Saturday, the Super DIRTcar Series Labor Day 100 at Cayuga County Fair Speedway Sunday night, and the Robert N. Petrocci Memorial race completes DIRTcar Championship Weekend on Monday at Rolling Wheels Raceway.
Quarterley to Work as Ramstrom's Crew Chief at North Wilkesboro

Former NASCAR Busch North Series regular Dale Quarterley will serve as the crew chief on Derek Ramstrom's PASS Super Late Model entry for this week's race at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC). Quarterley also won a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race earlier this season at Lime Rock Park while driving the Darling Motorsports #52 Modified.
Hoosier Tire Family Member Injured in Practice Crash

Eric Saunders, 18-year-old son of Irish Saunders of Hoosier Racing Tires, is recovering in an Indianapolis hospital after crashing at his home track while practicing for this weekend's Steel City pro national. Eric's spine was initially thought to be severed, but his father, Irish, has confirmed that Eric's spine was only stretched. Eric was initially taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend and was airlifted shortly after to Indianapolis so he could receive the best possible care. He underwent surgery Sunday night where doctors placed rods in his spine.
Currently Eric has no feeling from his belly button down. Friends of Eric will be selling t-shirts, stickers, and wrist bands this weekend at RedBud’s open ride on September 6th. There will also be a Suzuki RM125 for sale with all proceeds going to help the Saunders family.

2009 Blizzard Series Champion and 2008 Lee Fields Memorial 150 winner Johanna Long along with recent Viper Series winner Logan Boyett have both filled entries for Saturday’s Lee Fields Memorial 150 at Mobile International Speedway (AL). Speed51.com will have Trackside Now Coverage and radio coverage of the event on Saturday, September 4th.
Mid-American Race at Dodge County is Cancelled...Again

The Mid-American Stock Car Series event at Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway (WI) that had been announced as cancelled and then announced as being back on again has again been cancelled. The IRA Sprint Car series took over promotion duties of the program last week and hoped to run the MASCS as a support event to the Stan Fox Memorial Sprint Car race. However, they decided against that move early this week.
