Just one week after releasing the initial entry list for the 4th Annual Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway Park (CA), event officials have released an updated list that includes 35 entries for the $30,000-to-win Super Late Model race.
Since releasing the first entry list, 11 new entries have been received by SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour Series officials. Among those entries are some big names from both the East Coast and West Coast.
Highlighting the list of new entries is 2017 NASCAR XFINITY Series playoff contender Daniel Hemric. As reported earlier this week, Hemric will make his Winter Showdown debut in 2018 driving for the Wilson Motorsports team.
Preston Peltier, the 2017 Snowball Derby polesitter and 2017 Summer Showdown winner, has also filed an entry for the 4th Annual Winter Showdown. He will look to join Bubba Pollard as the only drivers to win both the Summer and Winter Showdowns.
Additional West Coast talent can also now be found on the entry list in the form of 2016 SRL Most Popular Driver Bobby Hodges. The Carson City, NV native is coming off a successful season that saw him enter SRL victory lane at Irwindale Speedway (CA).
The list of new entries also includes a father-son combination. John Moore and his son Cole Moore have both filed entries for the big race in their home state. John will be making just his second Winter Showdown appearance after an eighth-place finish in 2016, while Cole will be making his third attempt at the trace.
Tyler Ankrum, a California native who now resides in North Carolina, has filed an entry and will be making the trip back to his home state to compete in the Winter Showdown for the second straight year. Ankrum finished ninth last year in his first attempt.
Colby Potts, Eddie McKean, Brandon White, Bob Lyon and Tom Berrow are also among the latest drivers to file entries for the 2018 Winter Showdown.
With the latest entry list reaching 35 entries, SRL officials remain very optimistic that this year’s Winter Showdown will be the biggest yet. With $30,000 on the line for the winner and $3,000 to start the race, there’s plenty of incentives for drivers near and far to make the trip to Bakersfield, CA.
