Zamora Makes History at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

There is no shortage of history and lore at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway.  On Saturday night, Brittney Zamora added her own chapter to that legacy.

Making her third start at the historic track, Zamora became the first female driver to win a race in the 0.596-mile facility’s premier division when she took the checkered flag in a 100-lap Pro Late Model feature, the final are for the class before All American 400 weekend.

Zamora admitted that even she found joining the list of winners at Nashville too good to be true as she stood on stage giving her post-race interview.

“I know it’s real, but I feel like it’s not real,” said Zamora.  “This is crazy.  This is my third time racing here.  Last year, I was seventh and really happy with it.  Coming back today, I was not expecting to win.  I’m shaking, I can’t believe it.”

In a year where Zamora has raced sparingly, she raced Saturday with Rackley W.A.R.  There were no apparent signs of rust as Zamora took the team to victory lane.

“I want to thank my family, my crew, the Rackley team, they’ve been super supportive since the beginning.  I’ve been on a long break this season, so coming back and winning is insane.”

Zamora took the lead on lap 83 of the 100-lap event from former track champion Michael House, ultimately finishing 0.526 seconds ahead of House at race’s end.  Zamora credited House with being one of her most valuable teachers when she made her first start at Nashville.

“I love Michael.  When I was racing here last year, he was a huge mentor to getting me acclimated to the track and these cars.  I can’t thank him enough.  He raced me clean, as he always does.”

The Pro Late Models will crown a champion in a 100-lap finale as part of the All American 400 on October 29-31.  The marquee event will be headlined by a 300-lap Super Late Model feature.
