Young gun Carson Kvapil is starting his Super Late Model season at the top of the heap, qualifying on the pole for the PRA Tours Super Late Model Series opener at Southern National Motorsports Park.
Kvapil circled the 0.400-mile oval in Kenly, North Carolina in 14.785 seconds to claim the pole for the make-up race from the 2019 Thanksgiving Classic. A trio of North Carolina racers took the next three spots, with Brandon Setzer joining Kvapil on the front row. Defending PRA Tours Champion Kodie Conner qualified third, with defending CARS Tour champion Matt Craig setting the fourth-fast time and Mike Darne rounding out the top five.
Another former Super Late Model champion is also in the field, as 2018 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Josh Brock will start sixth in his first career PRA event. NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Series competitor Natalie Decker will start 11th.
The PRA Tours Super Late Models will compete for 125 laps around Southern National Motorsports Park in their season opener. Saturday’s race is the first of a six-race season.
