WWT Raceway Throwback Sim Race Coming to Speed51

On Sunday, March 29, Speed51 will once again present an exciting sim racing event as part of its expanding eSports coverage. The Bommarito.com Throwback 500 will take place at the virtual World Wide Technology Raceway, sanctioned by Elite Racing Leagues in partnership with the Illinois venue.

The race will feature 62 entries, all carrying throwback schemes from the open-wheel racing world.

The event will take place at 8 p.m. ET, broadcasted live for free on Speed51.  It will also feature several big names from several disciplines of the racing world who have been invited to the event.

Real-life racers strapping into the virtual cockpit for this event include IndyCar Series driver Dalton Kellett of A.J. Foyt Racing, Indy Lights competitor Robert Megennis from Andretti Autosport, NHRA pilots Ron Capps and Shawn Langdon, as well as Jordan Anderson of the NASCAR Truck Series.

Pro drivers in series including (but not limited to) NASCAR, IndyCar, NHRA, USAC, Indy Lights and World of Outlaws interested in competing in the event are requested to contact Madison Mabry of World Wide Technology Raceway at [email protected] or by calling (704) 740-8851.

While the list of professional drivers scheduled to compete is expected to grow in the coming days, it is possible for sim racers to join the event as Open competitors.  Interested entrants who meet the requirements set forth by Elite Racing Leagues can submit their entry for review by clicking here.

Drivers from the Elite Racing League and the Gateway Kartplex will also be invited to compete in the event as Open competitors.
