Lakeland, FL — A tremendous field of 29 Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman drivers were on hand at Citrus County Speedway this past Saturday night for round 4 of the incredibly popular series and fans were treated to some of the best racing of the 2018 season.

Devin McLeod set fast time and earned the QA1 Fast Qualifier Award in his #5 Ten Brink Underground Chevrolet. Pre-race adjustments went a little too far and after the 12 car invert was established, the Championship Point Leader worked his way back for a hard-fought 7th place finish.

Craig Cuzzone qualified 3rd, started 10th after the invert and steadily worked his way through the field for a strong 5th place finish. Shawn Jenkins started 2nd and lead the majority of the 50 lap feature before settling for a solid 4th place run.

2017 Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series Rookie of the Year Colton Bramlett continues to avoid the “sophomore jinx” and run with the veterans at the front of the field. Bramlett started and finished 3rd, brought home a clean car and continues to earn the respect of drivers and teams in the biggest and most competitive series in the State.

Aaron Williamson reminded the competition why he was the 2017 Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series Champion. Williamson started 13th and made a ferocious effort for the win, but in the end settled for 2nd and the Velocita Hot Shoe Award.

Even with the valiant challenges of young talent throughout the field, it was veteran driver experience and skill that tipped the balance of the race. Joe Winchell showed patience and confidence that only comes with years of racing accomplishments as he followed the leader for the majority of the race. Winchell took the lead for the final time on lap 32 and went on to pick up his 1st Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series victory of the season.

The next scheduled event for the Brandon Ford Wheel Man Series is this Saturday, May 5th at Auburndale Speedway. For more information about the Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series, find us on our Facebook page @WheelManSeries.
