Lakeland, FL — A full field of 24 Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman drivers took to the tough quarter mile facility in Clearwater, FL for the 50 Lap, $1000 to Win feature event. Showtime Speedway hosted round 3 of the popular series and fans in attendance would not be disappointed with the intense racing action that took place throughout the field.

Once again, Showtime Speedway owner Robert Yoho made the call to run the race immediately following qualifying, allowing air pressure adjustments only before lining up for the start. Less than 3/10’s of a second separated the top 10 in qualifying, but Aaron Williamson laid down a blistering lap that secured him the QA1 Fast Qualifier Award. 2016 Points Champion Sean Bass made his 1st appearance of the season and qualified his #28 BA Chassis 2nd, missing the pole by just .014 seconds. Jason Vail, Jason Rendell and Craig Cuzzone rounded out the top 5 qualifiers.

The capacity crowd knew they were in for a good show when the invert came up a 10, scrambling the field and setting the tone for the rest of the show. Craig Cuzzone started 5th, got bounced back and forth during the show, but once again held on to post a 5th place finish. Travis Roland started on the front row and battled with the leaders throughout the race to bring home a hard-fought 4th place run. The #157 of Jason Rendell appeared to be on the way to his 1st victory in the Series, but faded at the very end and settled for 3rd. Series Champion Sean Bass started 9th and methodically made his way through the two and sometimes three-wide battles, managing a 2nd place finish for the #28 BA Chassis team.

Current Championship Point leader Aaron Williamson was smooth in the Chad Allman Racing #67, knifing his way through traffic and past tough competitors, eventually making the Sweet Steering “Sweet Move of the Race” on lap 33 and holding on for his 2nd victory in just 3 races. Williamson was also awarded the “Driven Hard Charger Award” presented by Driven Steering.

Jesse Henley, Bobby Mobley, Chris Lewellen, Tommy Schnader and Brooke Storer rounded out the top 10.
Winners of the Gagels Auto Parts 4 Tire Give-Away were Chris Lewellen, Craig Cuzzone, Travis Roland and Brooke Storer.

The Five Star Bodies “Hard Luck Certificate” went to the #66 of Andy Nichols and the BA Chassis “Hard Wreck” Contingency went to Daniel Conlin after he was collected in an early accident.

The next event for the Brandon Ford Wheel Man Sportsman Series Presented by Gagels Auto Parts will be back at Citrus County Speedway this Saturday, April 22nd. Pre-registration is underway and Series Officials strongly urge drivers and teams to call Racecar Engineering at 800-882-7231 so they will be eligible for the Gagel Auto Parts 4 Tire Give-Away.
