Wheel Man Series Adds Kick to Season Finale

The country’s fastest-growing touring series, the Brandon Ford Wheel man Series is back at it. As the series crosses the one-third mark in its season, series officials have started to build up hype for its October 27th season finale at Citrus County Speedway.

With that in mind, series owner Steve Dorer, who is known to pull ideas from other series all around the country, announced this week that the October 27th 99-lap season finale at Citrus County Speedway will be a segment style race.

Much like the prestigious “Milk Bowl 150” that is run at Thunder Road in Vermont, the series finale will be run in a segment format. Three segments, three segment winners, one overall winner, and more than $2,500 on the line.

“I was watching the Milk Bowl on MAVTV, and I haven’t ever seen it before, so I started watching it pretty intently,” said Dorer. “It was such a cool race and I really liked the concept of doing the race in three segments of 50-50-50. So I was trying to think of something really cool to do for the season finale.

“I don’t have a big ego where I’m not afraid to take someone’s great idea and implement it, add to it, or subtract from it, or whatever,” Dorer added. “It won’t have the prestige that race has, but it might be the start of something new for Florida racers.”

Being branded as the “First Annual High Kick 99”, Dorer wants to replicate another Milk Bowl tradition – the kissing of the cow.

“There are cows everywhere. So we want to do something different for the kids in the stands,” said Dorer. “The overall victor of the race is going to kiss a donkey, which is the reasoning behind the name ‘High Kick 99.’”

With intrigue building daily for the season finale, racers and fans will want to keep an eye out on the Wheel Man Racing Series Facebook Page, as series directors along with Citrus County Speedway are working diligently with sponsors to grow the purse and build the race into one of the biggest Sportsman races in the country.
