Troy, Michigan — With one weekend of indoors racing in the books to start the 2014/2015 Winter Racing Season for the Midwest Indoor Racing Series, Motor City Racing Promotions officials are already hard at work preparing for the next race weekend on the schedule. The Welcome to 2015 Race Weekend is up next and a familiar place will serve as hosts; Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek, Michigan.
The Southern Michigan facility will be the site for Race #3 of the winter campaign on Saturday, January 17th. The 600cc Mini Sprints will once again highlight the weekend with a special 50-Lap Feature. During the Thanksgiving Classic Weekend, Peter Hathaway, from near-by Kalamazoo, Michigan, scored a dramatic first ever MIRS victory in the Saturday, headlining 50-lap main after being passed by Friday night Shootout winner, Drew Dorsett with three laps to go. Hathaway would respond by passing Dorsett right back to pick up the victory.
Also on the card will be the Arena/Mini Cup Cars, Midwest Classic Racer (MCR)-Type Dwarf Cars and seven divisions of Go-Karts and Quarter Midgets each. Plus, the Lawn Mowers will return as well. The Great Lakes Tire Go-Karts divisions will remain the same as they were on Thanksgiving Weekend as the Opens, 360s, Heavy Clones, Senior Caged, Junior Caged, Gold Plate & Purple Plate will all be in action. The Quarter Midgets divisions will also stay the same as the Junior Honda, Senior Honda, Light 160, Heavy 160, Senior Animal, Junior Animal and Heavy Honda classes will all be competing.
There will be an optional Practice Day reserved for Friday, January 16th. Entry Forms for all divisions will be available on the MIRS website beginning on Wednesday, December 17th. Competitors will be able to go to the ‘Entry Forms’ section of the website to download those important documents.
