With racing taking place in South Carolina, Georgia and Florida this past weekend, short track racing fans had plenty to keep an eye on leading up to Super Bowl Sunday.  Despite not having the funny commercials or corny halftime show, a handful of short track racers were able to score big wins of their own throughout Super Bowl weekend.

Redemption Comes to Doiron at Greenville Pickens – Often times when athletes are injured in a sporting event they strive to finish what they started.  The same works in racing when you want to get back what you lost or capitalize on the opportunity that was taken away from you.  That was priority number one for Joey Doiron at Greenville-Pickens Speedway (SC) and the PASS National event, the Winter Meltdown 150.

pfc-anim1Richards Fights Off Charging Sheppard for Golden Isles Win –  Josh Richards held off a late race charge from Brandon Sheppard to win on the opening night of the Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway on Friday Night. Richards led all but one lap on his way to victory in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event.

 

Kinser Dominates the All Stars to Take the Victory at Bubba Raceway – For the third time in his career and for the first time since 2007, Kraig Kinser found victory lane with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. The Bloomington, Indiana, native scored $5,000 for his wire-to-wire triumph at Bubba Raceway Park on Friday, February 5, officially capturing the first Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions win of the 2016 season.

 

Hoffman Steals Second Super Bowl Success in Georgia – In the makeup of the racing scheduled for Thursday at Golden Isles Speedway it was Nick Hoffman who captured his second win of the Super Bowl of Racing and a $2,000 Southeast Dirt Modified Series non-points win.  Highlights of the race can be viewed now on the Speed51 Network.

 

Davenport Shines on Cloudy Day at Golden Isles – The reigning Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, Jonathan Davenport led all 30 laps to win the Edwin Coggins Memorial on Saturday afternoon at Golden Isles Speedway.

 

Richards Comes Out Ahead After Epic Duel with Davenport – On Sunday afternoon at Golden Isles Speedway, Josh Richards took the $15,000 finale of the Georgia Boot Super Bowl of Racing.  The event was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

 

Jonathan Davenport, the reigning LOLMDS National Champion made a valiant effort on the final lap to pass Richards, but he spun allowing Richards to take the checkers for the second time this weekend.

 

Hoffman Hits the South East Dirt Modified Triple at Golden Isles – In the finale for the Super Bowl Of Racing at Golden Isles Speedway it was Nick Hoffman earning his third win in four Southeast Dirt Modified Series races on Sunday.  Highlights of the racing action can be seen now on the Speed51 Network.

 

Smith Holds Off Conley for NeSmith Round 5 Win at GIS – David Smith of Inman, SC held off a spirited challenge from Cale Conley of Vienna, WV to win the 50-lap Round 5 of the RockAuto.com Winter Shootout for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series on Sunday at Golden Isles Speedway. Smith led all 50 laps in the Upstate Wholesale Cars Special, but that did not describe the racing action.
