Oct. 11, 2021 (Concord, N.C.): Matt Weaver has been named Editor-in-Chief of Racing America, where he will oversee the NASCAR and grassroots content strategy for the organization, as well as its Cup Series and short track partners.
Weaver’s work will be featured across Racing America’s expansive editorial, multimedia, social media and email newsletter platforms. In addition to providing live event support at tracks, Weaver will also provide extensive multiplatform coverage of the biggest storylines in motorsports while expanding Racing America’s reach across the grassroots community.
Before Racing America, Weaver served as deputy motorsports editor at Autoweek.com and Autoweek Magazine, where he was a leader in the outlet’s editorial direction across multiple platforms while managing a diverse cast of international contributors.
A member of the motorsports media corps since 2010, Weaver has become a fixture in both NASCAR and IndyCar circles, providing editorial coverage of the most prestigious events in the country over that period.
In addition to his work in mainstream motorsports, Weaver also launched and managed an extensive grassroots racing media entity named Short Track Scene since 2016. Short Track Scene provided timely results, breaking news and thoughtful analysis from a wide array of contributors across North America.
A University of South Alabama graduate, Weaver has also contributed to the Associated Press, USA Today and RACER.com.
“Everything I have worked towards throughout my career has focused on strengthening the bond between mainstream motorsports and the grassroots communities we love,” Weaver said. “Racing America is exactly what the name entails – everything that is great about racing in America and we’re going to celebrate that passion across every level.”
