Watkins Makes Trip to ‘The Doc’ a Memorable One

Modoc, SC – The Ultimate Super Late Model Series Southeast Region traveled to “The DOC” Modoc Raceway located in Modoc, South Carolina Saturday August 3rd for the annual “Clarks Hill Classic” paying $4,000 to win. 20 Ultimate Southeast competitors signed into Saturdays event.

 

After taking the lead at the half point of the event Ben Watkins of Rock Hill, South Carolina led the remainder of the event to score his first career Ultimate Super Late Model Series Southeast Region victory at Modoc Raceway. Dennis Franklin led the first ten laps of the event before mechanical issues forced him to go pit side. Daulton Wilson led the next ten laps until a flat tire would send him pit side moving Watkins to the lead. John Henderson, Casey Roberts, Cla Knight, and Zack Mitchell rounded out the top five finishers. Dennis Franklin set fast time qualifying with a time of 16.099 seconds to earn the Davis Diesel Service Fast Qualifier award. Dennis Franklin and Daulton Wilson picked up bonuses from Big Dog Stump and Tree for quick time in their groups.

 

The Ultimate Super Late Model Series Southeast Region officials along with the track staff at Modoc Raceway would like to thank everyone in attendance for sticking through the delays due to rain to complete the event.

 

The Ultimate Super Late Model Southeast Region will be back in action again on August 16th & 17th as the Series will travel to Richmond Raceway located in Richmond, Kentucky for the “32nd Annual Paul Butterball Wooldridge Memorial” event paying $20,059 to win.
