After the originally-scheduled Wayne Carter Classic was postponed due to rain, the ARCA Midwest Tour returns to Grundy County Speedway Saturday night for the first time since 2018. While a great crowd is expected to attend the event, those unable to make it to the race track will be able to watch action live on Speed51’s Summer Thunder TV for monthly and yearly subscribers.
A yearly tradition on Speed51, Summer Thunder TV allows race fans to watch short track racing all over the country with a monthly or yearly subscription. In July alone, over 20 live race broadcasts — including the Wayne Carter Classic — will be available to subscribers at no additional cost.
The Wayne Carter Classic returns to Grundy County this weekend after a one-year hiatus in 2019. The race was first contested in 1975 to honor Grundy County Fair Board secretary Wayne Carter, who helped bring racing to the Chicagoland area. Wisconsin legend Tom Reffner won the inaugural event, which was also the first-ever race for the historic ARTGO Challenge Series.
Justin Mondeik enters Saturday’s race with a 10-point lead over 2018 series champion Dalton Zehr. Both drivers are entered for the event, as well as former series champions Casey Johnson and Jonathan Eilen. Current Grundy County Speedway points leader Paul Shafer Jr. leads a strong local contingent that includes area legend Eddie Hoffman and former track champion Ricky Baker.
Speed51’s live broadcast will begin at approximately 7 p.m. CT / 8 p.m. ET for ARCA Midwest Tour qualifying races.
