It’s officially race week for the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby presented by BJ’s Wholesale Club at Five Flags Speedway (FL). Media coverage for the year’s most prestigious Super Late Model event will be extensive, including Monday night with Five Flags Speedway’s one-hour Snowball Derby preview show from 7 p.m. CT to 8 p.m. CT on BLAB TV’s “In the Groove.”
Tim Bryant, Promoter of Five Flags Speedway and the Snowball Derby, will be joined by co-host Steve Stokes and a long list of guests to preview the annual tradition at the Pensacola half-mile.
Bob Dillner, motorsports broadcaster and President of Speed51, will join the duo on the program to discuss the week-long spectacle and Speed51’s exciting announcement that all of the action can be seen live on Speed51.
Stephen Nasse, this year’s Winchester 400 winner and contender to win the Snowball Derby, will also join the show to discuss his chances at capturing the Tom Dawson Trophy.
The live broadcast of the show can be watched live on your local cable system if you’re in the Gulf Coast region or online at www.blabtv.com for those outside of the region.
Rig parking and tech will open on Wednesday, December 4 for Super and Pro Late Model teams. The day will also feature a qualifying draw for both divisions and a free Green Flag Party in the pits featuring the band Muskogee Ridge.
Late Models will hit the track for the first time on Thursday, December 5 for a full practice day. The Pro Trucks, Sportsman, and Pure Stocks will have their feature races that night.
Friday, December 6 is the most intense day in all of short track racing. It’s qualifying day for the Snowball Derby. Also on Friday night, the Modifieds of Mayhem will crown a champion as they do battle for 75 laps in their season finale.
Saturday, December 7 is Allen Turner Snowflake 100 race day. Qualifying for the Snowflake 100 will begin at 2 p.m. CT. A 50-lap last chance race for the Snowflake 100 will immediately follow qualifying. The 50-lap last chance race for the Snowball Derby will also be held on Saturday evening at the conclusion of the last chance race for the Snowflake 100.
The green flag for the Allen Turner Snowflake 100 will wave at 7 p.m. Also on Saturday night, the Outlaw Stocks will race for 50 laps to decide who takes their Snowball Derby victory.
Sunday, December 8 is the biggest day of the year in short track racing. It’s race day for the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby presented by BJ’s Wholesale Club. Pre-race festivities will begin at Noon CT, with the class photo for the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby being taken on the frontstretch at 12:30 and Driver introductions to follow. The green flag for the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby will wave at 2 p.m.
