WATCH LIVE: Vores Compacts at Anderson
This is the first time the series has incorporated simulated pit stops into its event. During the feature, every car will be required to make a green-flag simulated pit stop in the infield. To complete the stop, the car must come to the infield via the apron, come to a complete stop over an ‘X’ placed in the infield cross-over at Anderson, and then return to the apron and merge safely on the racing surface on the straightaway.
Failure to adhere to these procedures will result in a penalty, while failure to pit during the 75-lap race will result in a three-lap penalty.
The simulated pit stop will create an extra element of strategy in the Vores Compact Touring Series race. Will drivers pit early and work their way forward through the field, or try to save the pit stop for the end and build a commanding advantage?
“We are always looking for ways to keep things fresh for our drivers and entertaining for our fans,” said Dan Redmond of the Vores Compact Touring Series. “If this works and the drivers and fans like it, then next year we may add to it. Right now, it is getting a lot of excitement from our drivers, so I think we will have a large car count to try to make the 24-car starting field for the D&J Sales 75.”
Anderson Speedway has been a regular part of the Vores Compact Touring Series schedule since 2014. This will be the second race for the series at Anderson in 2021, with Tom Gossar, Jr. winning there in April.
