Airborne Park Speedway (NY) officials have announced that Saturday’s scheduled Valenti Modified Racing Series event has been postponed until Sunday, September 7 due to projected thunderstorms in the area.

Pit gates will open at 8 a.m. ET and qualifying for the 100-lap main event is scheduled to begin at 1pm.

Track general manager Sherm Hamel told Speed51.com that the forecast predicted an 80% chance of rain at post time.  In an attempt to save time and money for all involved, the track decided to postpone the event until Sunday when the area is expected to see beautiful weather.

Sunday’s event will be the series’ first visit to the track since the 2010 season.  Rowan Pennink leads Justin Bonsignore by just seven points in the championship standings headed into the event.
