One of the most highly anticipated events on this year’s ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series schedule will not take place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. ULTIMATE’s $10,000-to-win Throwback race at Lake View Motor Speedway scheduled for Thursday, September 3 has been canceled.
“Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic and S.C. Governors restrictions on large gatherings, Lake View Motor Speedway regretfully has to cancel the ULTIMATE Super Late Model race scheduled for September 3,” said Lake View Motor Speedway promoter Scott Tripp. “Lake View Motor Speedway’s top priority is the safety of all fans, drivers, staff and pit crews. We will be working with the series in the future to schedule more events when restrictions are lifted.”
The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series event was planned to be a Throwback race, paying $10,000 to the winner. Scheduled for Thursday, September 3, it was to be held in conjunction with the NASCAR Cup Series’ visit to Darlington Raceway on Labor Day weekend.
The FASTRAK Racing Series’ trip to Lake View scheduled for August 29 has also been canceled at this time. That event would have been the series’ first trip to the South Carolina track.
With that cancellation, the next event on the FASTRAK Racing Series schedule is the East Coast Rumble on September 4-6 at Tyler County Speedway (WV).
