REPLAY: ULTIMATE HOA at Circle City
Erb was one of the last cars to take time in qualifying, and would just beat out Spencer Hughes for fast time for the second time in three nights. He says that was what ultimately helped him win the 50-lap feature, following a heat race win and a pole starting position.
“Spencer (Hughes) put down a really good lap in qualifying and we just barely nicked him. It definitely helped to start on the bottom,” Erb said on the Speed51.TV broadcast. “That top could almost keep up, especially in lapped traffic. I didn’t think the bottom would be that good on the start, I just tried to berm it in as much as I could before it went green and luckily it was the place to be.
“This place has been good to me. We’ve been here twice and have won twice so I’m sure we’ll be back.”
Not only did Erb sweep the weekend, the wins came at two tracks he had never seen before going into the weekend. He and the Best Performance Motorsports team have now won four out of their last five races, garnering a total payday of $52,000 in a span of 11 days in Nebraska and Indiana.
“This was a really good weekend of racing for us. My car owner Eric (Brock) is the best owner I’ve ever had and hopefully he’s the only owner I’ll have. I can’t thank him enough. This is close to home for us and it’s really nice to come race for a little bit of money.”
