Kingston, Georgia — 2017 Ultimate Super Late Model Series Champion and Rookie of the Year, Tyler Millwood returned to action with the tour on Saturday night at Modoc Speedway, where he picked up the biggest win of his young career.

The pilot of the Millwood Plumbing #31 Barry Wright Icon by Madden/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model pocketed $5,022 for his triumph in the annual Jack Starrette Memorial.

The win didn’t come without a tense moment as Millwood suffered damage to his car, while trying to navigate lapped traffic late in the race. Luckily, he would be able to hold on to get the win.

“I’m not going to lie, I thought my chance to win was gone when I slipped up and got damage to my left front late in the race,” Millwood recollected. “Luckily the caution came out for another accident, and I got the lead back and was able to recompose myself.

“This win means a lot. We hated to drop off the World of Outlaws, but right now our family business is crazy busy, and that has to come first. When time allows we are going to race big shows close to home and try to make the most of the opportunities. We were able to capitalize at Modoc, and hopefully this is the first of many wins to come.”

Tyler Millwood was one of 24 Super Late Models registered with the Ultimate Southeast Series at Modoc Raceway (Modoc, South Carolina) on Saturday night for the eighth annual Jack Starrette Memorial.

Registering the fastest lap overall in his qualifying group, Tyler locked into the outside-front-row starting position for the A-Main. Holding a comfortable lead throughout the feature, Millwood survived left-front damage to his entry, and then fought off Ross Bailes in the final circuits to pick up his first win of the season and a $5,022 payday.

Bailes, John Henderson Jr., Cla Knight, and Joey Coulter completed the Top-5 finishers in the 50-lap affair.
