Two Tiebreakers Decide Winner of Miss Snowball Derby Pageant

On Thursday night at Seville Quarters in Downtown Pensacola, Florida, Bristal Aaron was crowned Miss Snowball Derby 2019.  Aaron, who is deaf, will hold the title for the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby and all festivities leading up to the event.

The title of Miss Snowball Derby has been a lifelong dream for Aaron, and one she nearly achieved last year when she was named first alternate to 2018 Miss Snowball Derby Helena Ciappina.  This year, Aaron was crowned in a tightly contested pageant which saw two tiebreakers among the five semi-finalists before a final decision was reached.

“It feels amazing,” Aaron told Speed51.  “I’ve always wanted this since I was a little girl.  It absolutely feels amazing.”

Five Flags holds a special place in the Aaron family, as Bristal’s father Tommy Aaron is a two-time track champion at the half-mile.  The Pensacola crowd in attendance at Seville Quarters was ecstatic when Aaron was crowned.

“My dad is a two-time champion and it’s very special to win this because I’ve always wanted to be with him at Five Flags.”

The competition featured rounds for casual wear and evening wear before five semi-finalists were named.  The semi-finalists fielded questions from judges before the final rounds of voting.

Jessica Ballard, the girlfriend of Super Late Model racer Travis Braden, was named first alternate as well as “Miss Congeniality” for the 2019 Miss Snowball Derby pageant.

All contestants received tickets to the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby.  Aaron won a $1,000 cash prize to accompany her title as Miss Snowball Derby.

Race fans will be able to see Miss Snowball Derby all week long at Five Flags Speedway when the 52nd Annual Snowball Derby week kicks off on December 4. Miss Snowball Derby will be out and about at the race track as well as in victory lane for every division, including the Snowball Derby itself on Sunday, December 8.
