This week the Hattori Racing Enterprise No. 1was sponsored by Nisco NRC. Once again the team was joined this week at the shop, and at the track in Greenville with guest mechanics. This time they were two master mechanics from dealerships in Japan along with a General Manager and a Service Manager. The threat of rain did not seem to worry the team at all.
Similar to Iowa the team practiced, qualified and raced on Saturday. In both the first and second round of practices driver Trey Hutchens was 16th fastest. Hutchens was first to qualify on Saturday, and qualified 21st.
Hutchens started the race in the 21st position. The halfway break occurred on lap 70, this gave the crew the opportunity to make any minor adjustments that were needed as well as change all four tires and fill the car with fuel. On lap 75 the first caution of the night came out. On lap 120 of 140 Hutches was in 16th place.
The second caution of the night came out on lap 123 and the team pitted under caution to make some adjustments to the car. On lap 128 the green flag flew once again, the rest of the race remained caution free. Trey Hutchens and the No. 1 Nisco NRC Toyota Camry came home 17th.
After the race Trey Hutchens had this to say “First, I’d like to thank Mr. Hattori and everyone at HRE for the opportunity. I really hate that the result was not better. During practice I really thought we had a competitive car in race trim. When the sun went down during the race we lost the rear grip we had during the day. No rear grip and lack of track position made for a long night but I really enjoyed getting to work with all the guys on the #1 Nisco car. They are a great, tight knit group.”
Hattori Racing Enterprises will head to Chicagoland Speedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series race with Ross Chastain in the No. 80 Goodyear/ Toyota sponsored Toyota Camry. Be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.
