Dippel’s crew chief, David “Buggy” Pletcher told 51 the weights could have been off by something as simple as a mixup of wheels or a rear-end knocked out through the course of the race. Pletcher said he had several cars out of his shop here at the World Series and today’s race tires could have been mounted on a wrong size offset wheel. Pletcher added that he won’t know exactly the issue until he can get the car back to his Mooresville, NC shop. He also added that Dippel’s car was at 57.7-percent left side weight all week, but it “certainly wasn’t my intention” to come in that heavy on the left side.
11:19
TECH UPDATE: Wallace is officially clear in tech and will be your World Series SLM champion.

Millbridge Speedway is the new breeding ground for future NASCAR stars! In 2011 the Burnett’s took over Millbridge Speedway to convert it to a premier Outlaw Kart Track! The track has seen much needed improvements over the last 3 years including new lights, new walls, and a new configuration for 2013. The Mini Outlaw karts put on an amazing show with 2 and 3 wide racing throughout the field. Millbridge Speedway is only open on select Wednesday nights for racing. This enables people who travel or race at other venues on the weekends to race with us and has a good time during the week. Click here for more information.

9:39
SPEEDWEEKS TIME CAPSULE: Throughout New Smyrna Speedweeks, Speed51 will take a look back at some of the history of this event with our partner site, 51’s Third Turn (thethirdturn.com). Some of short track racing’s best have been able to claim the title of World Series champions while others yet really broke into the national scene thanks to this event.

Today, we recognize one of the greatest drivers in the history of short track racing, Dick Trickle from Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. Trickle and his #99 ‘White Knight’ machine were one of the most iconic World Series combinations through much of the 1970s and 1980s. Though the championship eluded him until 1982, Trickle began winning World Series races at Smyrna in 1978. Between that and his graduation to major NASCAR racing, Trickle won over 25 late model World Series races, captured four titles (1982, 1984, 1985, and 1986), and even ran competitively in the handful of times he hopped in the Brady #00 Modified.

Trickle’s accomplishments at New Smyrna were only part of a fantastic career that spanned over 1200 short track feature wins. A multi-time champion in the ASA National Tour, ARTGO Challenge Series, Slinger Nationals, Red White & Blue Championship, Trickle was simply the terror of the Midwestern racing scene for over two decades. He won the Florida Governor’s Cup, World Crown, Rockford National Short Track Championship, and LaCrosse Oktoberfest. And despite advancing to NASCAR’s national series at a late age, he still made an impact as the oldest Rookie of the Year in Sprint Cup Series history and oldest winner in NASCAR Nationwide Series history. The racing community lost Trickle last May, though his fingerprint remains heavily implanted in the hearts of short trackers across the country. You can view some of Trickle’s career statistics by looking at his driver profile on 51’s Third Turn:http://www.thethirdturn.com/wiki/Dick_Trickle

It is the number one Outlaw Super Late Model event in the nation! The Kalamazoo Klash XXII will take place on Wednesday, August 13 at the Kalamazoo Speedway in Kalamazoo, MI. Last year, Terry Senneker won the Klash and picked up the $10,000 check. It was the second year in a row, and third Klash win overall in his career. Tyler Roahrig, Phil Bozell and many more will try to take over Senneker’s place on top of the podium in 2014. Click here to make your plans now for this year’s event!

You can view some of Trickle’s career statistics by looking at his driver profile on 51’s Third Turn: http://www.thethirdturn.com/wiki/Dick_Trickle
