For American stock car racing fans, the Daytona 500 is the biggest event on their calendar. As the Great American Race is upon us, one event many Midwest short track racers considered “their 2012 Daytona 500” was held at the Milwaukee Mile last June.  Over 12,000 spectators turned out on a warm Tuesday night to witness third-generation Wisconsin racer Travis Sauter beat several NASCAR stars – in a field of 71 super late model racers – to score a popular victory in the 150-lap Midwest Tour super late model race at the historic Milwaukee Mile.

This summer, the highly-anticipated event returns to the Milwaukee Mile with the ARCA Midwest Tour and moves to the second Monday and Tuesday in July. Event organizers, building on the success of last year, are adding a Monday night concert featuring the heritage Southern rock band 38 Special.

Tickets for the July 8-9, 2013 “ARCA Fest” go on sale Friday, February 22nd at 10:00 a.m. Central Time online at www.ARCAfest.com.

May is fine, but Coughlin is back to 6th and May back to 7th after both had to really back out of the throttle to avoid wadding up their racers.

While everyone in the front was able to separate themselves from the contact, the back of the field did not see it happening and piled in. Joey Mucciacciaro got the worst of it, with brothers Marc and Jaxson Jacobs also pulling from the scene with significant damage.

Congrats to Benjamin on the win

8:50

CHECKERED – Kyle Benjamin, just as he did in 2012, wins his third Super Late Model feature in a row. Ryan Moore, Stephen Wallace, Kenzie Ruston, and Dylan Kwasniewski will be your top-five. Points challengers Spencer Davis (6th) and David Rogers (10th) will lose a little more ground to leader Moore.

8:49

LAP 34 – WHITE – Benjamin is looking good to win his third straight. Ruston has taken third from Wallace.

8:49

RESTART – Benjamin and Moore side-by-side for the first two corners, but Moore slid the rear coming off of Turn Two and slides in line.

8:48

“Old School” is the approach the Southern Super Series is taking in their debut season of 2013. The 16-race slate brings together five racetracks in four different states and will include such legendary races as the World Crown 300 and the All American 400. Alabama’s Mobile International Speedway and Montgomery Motor Speedway, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports Park and Tennessee’s Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville make up the facilities that some of the best Super Late Model racers will compete on with the series this coming year.

The inaugural season’s opener comes on Saturday, April 6th at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. For more details on this event visit www.southernsuperseries.com and http://www.fairgroundsspeedwaynashville.com/
