Stand by for results from the night’s action.

12:57

After the last-lap wreck in the SK Modified race, Ronnie Silk and Keith Rocco chased each other around the race track, stopping in turn three.  Silk eventually made it to victory lane, where Rocco made his way there as well and a big fight broke out between crews, the drivers and more.Once things got separeted, Silk headed to tech with Rocco heading to his hauler.  We have video of the fight and interviews with both drivers.  We will have that up on Speed51Video.com tomorrow.

12:45

We just received word from tech that Patrick Laperle has cleared tech and is officially the winner of the Crate/ASA Late Model event.

12:29

Racing is now done for the night.  We’re working on finishing results from every divisions.  Results and photos to follow.

12:10

11:52

Comment From guest read the rulebook , it is cheating if you punch to low on the durometer . thats why a real tech man is throwing them out for breaking the rules = cheating

11:51

In the Tour car is was, which is why he was disqualified as it wasn’t the cam it was supposed to be on there.

11:51

Comment From George I thought that was a spec motor in Silk’s car

11:50

Comment From Chris Soaking tires at Speedweeks is not cheating but as in many sports many players/drivers build a reputation and in the last 3 years Jeff C. does not have the best rep. Jeff is a great racer and a great guys I hate that he is getting thrown out but on another note he doesn’t have the best reputation.

11:50

Top five: Ronnie Silk, Nicole Morgillo, Chris Jensen, David Sazarulo, Rob Shultz

Jeff Choquette has indicated the top-two were thrown out in the Super Late Model finish was due to the tires punching too low on the durometer, which is what happened on Sunday.

10:58

Breaking news: Jeff Choquette and Tim Russell were both disqualified in the Super Late Model race.  We are not sure why, but we got that information right from the officials.  We haven’t heard anything further on the SLM tech area, so right now, unofficially BJ McLeod is the winner – unofficially.

10:57

We see her on the track, so we think there are a lot of additions we didn’t get.

10:18

Comment From Guest That is not being unsportsman like…………. the way everyone is having a tough time at tech, making sure is a good idea….

10:18

We are not provided a rundown by the track as this is line-scored, not computer scored.  Sorry for the inconvenience, but it isn’t always possible. To see the action live at the track, visit NewSmyrnaSpeedway.com for ticket information.

10:18

Comment From Race Fan Just a thought..maybe the talk radio men can give a run down through the field every once in awhile I mean even if it’s just to the top 5. Some people are just listening and not following this run down..we don’t care about stuff that happened previously in the week when they are supposed to be commentating the race! Thanks

10:17

Comment From Kevin Finney Reported that Brian broke the rearend gear or the center section…

10:16

Comment From Guest i find that kinda unsportsman like the fans are the reason the track can host events like this he should at least acknowlage them

We headed to the track to get a few words with Jeff Choquette for tomorrow’s video, but Choquette did not go to victory lane.  He went directly to pit road and is not doing victory lane.  We heard it might have been his choice, which is understandable as Choquette feels photos and media jinx him.

We have received clarification about tonight’s Super Late Model race. After we left the track, the track officials decided to just run a normal show tonight, so they will not have double points. The SLM drivers will still qualify though and the DQs from Saturday will get to keep their qualifying spot as the track wants to just put Sunday’s events to bed and move on with the week.

12:45

The Super Late Model “Tiregate” issue on Sunday when the top-five finishers were disqualified in post-race tech for their tires being below the limit for softness on the tire durometer check has been a hot-button topic. In just a few days, we have had around 3800 views on our video that included interviews from Jeff Choquette, Tim Russell, tech-man Ricky Brooks and eventual race winner Lonnie Sommerville. Check out the video now if you haven’t seen it:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB76mdxhqgU

Comment From Guest Thank-you speed51 crew for providing those of us trapped in the snow with fantastic racing coverage!!

12:34

Tonight you will be able to listen to some of the racing action on Speed 51 Radio. The broadcast will begin at 8:30pm Eastern, and can be heard on RaceTalkRadio.com online or 454.5000 at the track.

12:26

After last night’s fog-out, a few of the Super Late Model drivers gathered on the front stretch to discuss what they wanted to do today. After a lengthy discussion, it has been determined that they will race tonight for double points and they will qualify for position. That means the five drivers that were DQed in Sunday’s race will not have to start at the back of the pack, and will actually start where they qualify (plus inversion).

Tonight’s big race is the Tour Mod John Blewett III Memorial 50, which is a 50-lap race in memory of JBIII, who passed away in 2007.

Even though practice was supposed to start at 11am, we are now just about to see practice kick off here. After the rains last night, the track was working on turn four. That area, during the NASCAR Cup testing, the Cup guys were cutting grooves in the track to help the drainage since that area has been known to have weepers.
