There are four traditional “majors” in Super Late Model racing with the Snowball Derby, the All American 400, the Winchester 400 and the World Crown 300. Since these events have been going on only five drivers have been able to win three of the four and Chase Elliott could add his name to that list tomorrow with a win to join the likes of Bobby Gill, Butch Miller, Darrell Waltrip, Gary Balough and Gary St. Amant.

Comment From Matt Weaver

Don’t take I-85 N (from Atlanta) if you’re planning to get to the Park tonight. Traffic is at a standstill. We’re stuck. Take the highways.

4:39
This is Peach State, essentially. The dimensions of the track are the same and in the same place as the old Peach State. In 2008, the Gresham family purchased the facility and immediately went to work giving this facility a complete overhaul other than the dimensions of the track. The grandstands and corners have been flip-flopped here at GMP from the way they used to be. Just about every inch of the property is different than it was when it was Peach State. The Gresham family have done a masterful job with this place and it’s truly a showcase track for short track racing.
4:38
Comment From Jesse

Whatever happened to the Peach State Speedway? Did they demolish that?

4:35
While temperatures were above 100-degrees when we arrived a couple hours ago here at GMP, this rain shower has cooled things off considerably. The Weather Channel says it’s currently 70-degrees. That’s quite a cool down and it’s certainly welcome here at the track!

It’s our pleasure to bring the racing action to those who can’t make it to the track. While we can never replace the thrill of being at the track, we appreciate the fans’ support and the support of our loyal advertisers and sponsors who allow us to be at the track.

We don’t have a booth here, but we’re all going to be wearing red and black Speed51.com crew shirts on Wednesday, so if you see us, stop us and introduce yourself.

Finally, yes tickets are available for tomorrow’s event and can be purchased at the gate. Features are set for 5:25pm tomorrow and the World Crown 300 is the fourth feature. Therefore, we’d suggest trying to be here a little earlier than 6:30 if you plan to see all the exciting action if possible.

Comment From Alabama

Thank you Speed 51 for great coverage of late model racing. I will be traveling from west of Auburn to the World Crown 300 tomorrow for what looks to be a wonderful race. Just a few questions. Can I still get a good seat if I arrive around 6:30 PM? And. Do y’all have a booth? I would like to see y’all and tell you thank you for the coverage of this type of event. I try to make the Viper and Show Me the Money but the rest I depend on y’all.

4:03
The heavy rain has stopped, but there’s still a drizzle falling from overhead. We do see some sunshine off the backstretch, so we should be just about done with the rain and hopefully we’ll get cars on the track soon.

The rain continues to fall here at GMP, but the cell is just about through the area. The track is completely soaked, so drying efforts will have to get underway once the rain comes to a stop.

Speed51.com’s World Crown 300 coverage is presented by Bestline Superior Lubricants.

Based in Tampa, Florida, Bestline has developed and patented several revolutionary new products. Their Engine Treatment oil additive is the only product on the market that packs a powerful three punch combo. It delivers more horsepower, ultimate protection and better fuel economy. By utilizing technology that was made available in the last few years, Bestline International Research created a pharmaceutical grade, fully synthetic base oil, that ionically bonds to metal surfaces. Our patented Micro Lubrication Technology is far superior to anything else on the market and they guarantee it.

We were just about to go do a quick headcount in the infield when a thunderstorm hit GMP. It’s only a small cell on the radar and it should be through the area soon. Once it’s gone, we’ll go get a feel of how many cars are here. There appears to be about 30 trailers we see from our vantage point. There certainly could be more cars than that, but we won’t know until the rain shower passes.
