Earlier this year, Montgomery Motor Speedway (AL) announced there would be a Super Late Model race at the half-mile off of Old Selma Road in Montgomery, Alabama.  The race, scheduled for September 1st and 2nd, is the first Super Late Model race at the track in over two years.  The 150-lap spectacle will feature a six-tire rule, and pay $6,000.00 to the winner.

Now, as the date gets closer, excitement starts to build. Entry forms are now available, and entries have begun to come in for the race.  Drivers get your entries in now as the qualifying will take place in the opposite order of entries received.  Fans, mark your calendars for September 1st and 2nd for the 150-lap Super Late Model extravaganza at Montgomery.  For more information, visitwww.montgomeryspeedway.com

1:22

Deep South dominator Augie Grill is on track for practice. Tonight is Grill’s first start at South Alabama since his win in the Pro Rattler 125 earlier this year in March.

Comment From Lenny

Good luck to Garvey today, hope he can pick up win #2 this weekend

1:18

At the driver’s meeting this morning, two sets of tires were given away. Zak Hausler won a set for driver’s who ran both ends of the the Deep South Doubleheader, and Chris Davidson won the drawing for driver’s that raced that last Viper race.

1:16

Track is silent once again. Like we said earlier, this is not unusual for practice at Opp.

1:14

Zak Hausler came out and made a lap at a slow speed, and went directly back to the pits. Hausler was disqualified last night at Five Flags.

1:06

Justin South comes out for some hot laps. South has captured four straight fast qualifer awards at South Alabama.

Kore Ruble (grey shirt) enters tonight’s race as the points leader. (speed51.com photo)

Both Adkins and Davidson head off.

12:59

Texan Chris Davidson comes out for practice as well.

12:57

Ray Black, Jr., a veteran of New Smyrna Speedway in Florida, has just arrived. That bumps us up to 18 cars, one of the larger Viper fields in recent memory.

12:56

Josh Adkins takes to the track.

12:54

While the action is not to heavy here, check out the replay of last night’s action from the Allen Turner Pro Late Model Series from Five Flags Speedway.

12:48

That is not out of the norm here at Opp. Teams do not like to practice in the hot late summer sun knowing the track will change drastically as the day/night wears on. Practice runs until 3:30 p.m. CST, so teams will have ample time to get their cars dialed in.

12:46

Odom exits the track, and the speedway once again falls silent.

12:43

Track is hot for practice and last season’s Viper Series runner-up Brandon Odom is first out.

12:42
