Barrett on his last lap, last turn pass on Todd Szegedy for the lead:

“When I was in fifth with nine to go, I got the lucky jump and I followed Keith into third. I got by Keith and there was another caution. I was pretty much yelling at my self and told my self, ‘this is my race, I’m not letting it get away.

“I came to the white flag and had a good run down the frontstretch, so I just sent it in. He’s probably upset, most people would be but we’re going for the win and I’d expect him to do the same thing”

After a couple rough start during his rookie season on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, Barrett was excited to get to victory lane here tonight and pick up his first career win at Thompson.

“We had a couple rough starts in the first two races on the Mod Tour,” Barrett said. “We’ve had bad luck and things just haven’t been going our way. It feels good here to get a win here finally. Now I have a win at Thompson, Waterford, and Stafford.”

A lot of people are asking about the tire rule for tonight’s event.

During VMRS events in recent years, teams have been allowed to switch tires from front to back at any point in the race. That will not be the case this season.

We spoke to VMRS race director Scott Tapley and he tells us that right side tires are now position specific and teams are not allowed to swap tires on that side. Teams are still allowed to swap left side tires front to back if they choose.

Tonight’s 75-lap feature will be a four-tire race and teams will only be able to change tires if they have a flat or damaged wheel.
