The final few cars are pulling off the track now bringing this night of practice to an end.
With this group and the pending cars coming tomorrow we are going to have one heck of a show here tomorrow. Come on out and see it.
As we say that more have snuck out for the final round.
Five or six Late Models will go out for the final practice of the night.
It looks like we’ll have one more chance for Super Late Models to hit the track.
The cars and stars of the ARCA/CRA Super Series are set to kick off an exciting 2013 season in just a few short weeks at one of the toughest racetracks in the country. Steve Dorer is going out for this final practice.
So far, other than Gorham, we have not seen any major issues for any of the other Late Model teams here practicing.
The Bigley cars that unloaded a short time ago have made there way to staging for this next Late Model practice.
Jake Perkins has said their car is good and they are done for the night. We assume a few others will follow suite.
A new look paint job for Daniel Webster in 2013. Webster has unloaded and already taken the track once for practice.
George Gorham Jr had lost a motor in his Super Late Model and as of now will not be competing tomorrow.

We are seeing some of the support division teams pulling out as they are done practicing. We wonder if any Late Model teams will sit out the final round of practice.

Comment From Speed 51 fan

Good to see the 2012 Ice Breaker winner and season champion, Steve Dorer, there. Good luck on another steller year!

Interesting note about Wayne Anderson he has won one race in the Florida United Promoters Late Models Series in each of the first two seasons.
There are no transponders here tonight. We can only go by the stop watches provided by the teams. Funny thing is that they all have different numbers. From what we have gathered the 84 of Wayne Anderson is one of the quicker cars.
The day has turned to night here at Citrus County Speedway.
The Anderson group will have two cars as far as the drivers go. Wayne and Randy will look to go one-two tomorrow night. (Speed51.com Photo)

One of the most prestigious Super Late Model events in the country celebrates its 30th running in 2013. It’s the World Crown 300 at Jefferson, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports Park. The World Crown winners’ list reads like a who’s-who in short track racing and drivers from throughout the country will try to etch their name into World Crown history on July 4 in the 30th annual running of the 300-lap event. For more details on the 30th Annual World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park, visit www.racegmp.com
Another Late Model has pulled into the pit area.
Thanks Mike. We actually did some looking into 51’s history at this track. Even back in the FASCAR days we can not find any evidence that we covered a race here. So not only is this a new track for this report, but for 51 as a whole.
Comment From mike murphy

Look speed 51 at citrus they never let us down great job speed 51

We are expecting a very strong car count here tomorrow as several drivers are not on the grounds for practice. They tend to have strong fields here normally and the series draws over 20 cars here for each race. Come on out and watch the action as features start at 5:30pm. That will include eight divisions of actions.

“Old School” is the approach the Southern Super Series is taking in their debut season of 2013. The 16-race slate brings together five racetracks in four different states and will include such legendary races as the World Crown 300 and the All American 400. Alabama’s Mobile International Speedway and Montgomery Motor Speedway, Florida’s Five Flags Speedway, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports Park and Tennessee’s Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville make up the facilities that some of the best Super Late Model racers will compete on with the series this coming year. The inaugural season’s opener comes on Saturday, April 6th at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. For more details on this event visit www.southernsuperseries.com and http://www.fairgroundsspeedwaynashville.com/
Late Models have now pulled in for the end of their first session.
Comment From Mike Ray

Thanks 51 for this weekend’s coverage!

After a dozen laps Randy Anderson pulls off.
Perkins, Randy Anderson, and David Green are the only three that have been on track.
Jake Perkins just went for a soft spin in practice. He got his back tires off the racing surface and is stuck. He got back going after the aid of a wrecker.
The 92 Dick Anderson Late Model will be driven by Devin McLeod. He just rolled in and will be jumping in shortly. McLeod won his first Super Late Model race just a few days back at New Smyrna.
Late Models are getting ready to head out for practice we’ll be back in a few minutes after we grab some action shots.
Comment From Devin McLeod

On my way for practice tonight! That’s a good looking #92!

In June of 1953, Herb Thomas spoiled a dominant effort by Lee Petty to win a race in the series now known as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at a newly-opened Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.

Now nearly 60 years later, NASCAR racing will be back at Five Flags.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first-ever NASCAR event held at Five Flags, the legendary half-mile track will see the debut of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at the track April 12 and 13. See all the rising stars of NASCAR racing at Five Flags for the first time ever in the NAPA 150. Advanced reserved tickets are now available by calling the Five Flags Speedway box office at 850-944-8400 and more information can be found on www.5flagsspeedway.com

Street Stocks and Mini Stocks will have time on the track before the Late Models.
After polling some of the drivers they don’t expect a lot to be here tonight, as most of the locals will roll in tomorrow for race day.
The track is now hot with go-karts.
Wayne Anderson has unloaded a Late Model along with his son Randy Anderson in a number 4 machine.
Super Late Models and Pro Late Models from across the country will battle for the famed Rattlesnake Trophy during the 37th Annual Rattler 250 weekend at South Alabama Speedway, March 15, 16 and 17. Some of short track racing’s biggest names have put their name in the Rattler 250 record books over the years and this year many Super Late Model racers will try to do the same. Pro Late Model racers will also have a major part in Rattler weekend with their 100-lap feature. For more details on Rattler weekend, visit www.southalabamaspeedway.com
Comment From Tom Barrett

Thanks for the coverage speed51. Coming up tomorrow from Bradentom

Steve Gill has some fresh rubber out for this weekend. (Speed51.com Photo)
David Green is here in the Drawdy Brothers number 12. That will add to the Late Model car count.
Some other support divisions are rolling in as well.
As we have been typing away Wayne Anderson has rolled. In recent weeks he’s been working with Modifieds, but perhaps he’ll unload a Late Model.

Good afternoon and welcome to Citrus County Speedway here in Inverness, FL. Today is an optional practice day for the first Florida United Promoters Late Model Series event of the season. Tomorrow another chapter in the historic Ice Breaker 100 will be written, but today it’s all about the drivers finding speed.
