We’d like to thank Rick Williams and the Officials of the FUPS Series along with Rex Guy and the Staff of Auburndale Speedway for their hospitality over this extended stay here in Central Florida.

We would also like to thank REV – Racing Engine Valves and Hamner Racing Engines for making this Trackside Now coverage possible through their support.

4:31
So it was a thrilling finish to the FUPS Series for 2012 that saw the fans on their feet for the last lap. Although Jesse Dutilly led the most laps and was the leader at the White Flag, Steve Dorer saw his opportunity entering turn one. He entered high, rolled through the middle on the bottom and pulled alongside down the backstretch. Dorer was first on the gas in turn four to take the checkers for his sixth win of 2012 and the 2012 FL United Promoters Late Model Series Championship.
4:28
Winner and Series Champion Dorer stated that Dutilly’s car was good for a few laps before his car came in. He knew Dutilly would pull away a little on the last green flag run but that he could catch him with a couple laps to go. “I knew I could roll the center and pick the throttle up quicker than him and he just kept getting looser and looser,” Dorer said. “The more he played defensive the more it played into me.I was just really fortunate, we’ll just say that.”

We caught up with two of the drivers involved in the lap 2 caution when Webster drifted high in turn two creating a three-wide situation down the backstretch. It ended with contact between the inside two cars of Campi and Macy, with Macy going around and into the outside wall entering turn three.

“Campi hooked me in the right rear and put use drivers-side into the fence,” was Macy’s take on the incident, “(I’ve) been moved and roughed around enough by him this year so this is last race, it is what it is.” Macy showed his frustartion by plowing into the Campi machine under yellow ending the race for both drivers.

“I missed the corner on lap two and slid up, Campi filled the whole,” said Webster who was stuck on the outside of the three-wide battle.  “I don’t think (Macy) knew we were three-wide, he drove up to the wall expecting (Campi) to drive up to the wall and he couldn’t go up because I was still there. (Macy) got right-reared into the wall. I had to stay where I was at beside Campi to keep from wrecking him.”

We tried to get Campi’s take on the incident however he had left the Speedway by the end of the race.
