The point’s battle is going to be a fight to the finish as Matt McCall leads Jamey Caudill by 17 points with three races to go counting today.   McCall has four wins in 2009, but Caudill has more top five finishes.   There was a little bad blood last time out as McCall made contact with Caudill on the final lap taking him out of the top spot.   McCall was moved back to the last car on the lead lap for the incident. The two drivers had words after the race making most of us wonder if it’s over.   Today we’ll find out.

11:39

The track is quiet as we wait for the 12 o’clock hour.   That is the earliest any engines can be fired here at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC).   Another problem that often happens here is funerals that happen near the track.   There was one yesterday that stopped a practice session.   Today we think we will not have to take a break for that occurrence.

11:40

We are heading Trackside to talk with some drivers and get some more info, be back soon.

12:46

Practice continues here at Hickory Motor Speedway, a few moments ago the number 12 of Garrett Campbell had heavy smoke coming out the tail pipes bringing out a caution.   We are not 100% sure, but we think he is done for the day.

Coleman Pressley currently sits seventh in UARA points and he is still looking for his first win this season.   Pressley won the Bobby Isaac memorial here at Hickory Motor Speedway last weekend.   He told us on Speed 51 Radio on Wednesday night that he hopes he can carry the momentum into today’s race. Click here to listen to last weeks show.     Don’t forget Speed 51 Radio and Dirty Talk Radio will be switching back to Tuesday nights on RaceTalkRadio.com.

12:54

The other teams here might be a little scared by Matt McCall after he ran four laps and then parked his car here in the first practice.   He has just returned to the track as it looks like they are very happy with their racecar.

12:57

USARacing Pro Cup regular Caleb Holman is here today racing in the number 74.   Holman might just be shaking his car down for the final UARA-Stars event of 2009 at Kingsport.     He told us he had to race there because it’s his home track.

3:21

Comment From racing 2815 Are the uara late models same as super late models?

3:27

Just to help out some of our newer fans, the UARA-Stars is a Late Model Stock tour, the cars are built with a perimeter chase that goes all around the car in the center section.   Super Late Models and Pro Late Models that are seen across the country are straight rail chases.  It can be hard for even us to keep up with sometimes.
