No they did not. The qualifying format used today with time trials and qualifying heat races have been what Star Speedway has used since the first SBM 125.

Tri-Track Open Modified Series promoter Jim Schaefer told Speed51.com that they weren’t going to try to ruin the tradition and wanted to keep the event format as is.

Speed51.com caught up with Derek Ramstrom, who is making his first career Modified start today at Star Speedway. Ramstrom tells us that he’s adjusted well to the Modified after driving Super Late Models for many years. “I’m kind of used to the power after driving a Super Late Model, but with the wide tires there is much more grip.” Ramstrom says he now has about 100 laps in his Modified after testing here on Wednesday.

One driver you may notice missing from the practice results posted earlier is defending SBM 125 winner Matt Hirschman. Hirschman didn’t run a transponder during the first practice, but is believed to have one on his car for this upcoming practice session at 3:15.
3:13
That is correct. Fredrickson will assume the role of car owner tonight as Jamy Begor, a competitor at New York’s Airborne Speedway, will be in the driver’s seat piloting the No. 41 for Fredrickson tonight.

You have the 41 listed as Jamy Begor? Isn’t that Karl Fredricksons car?

The World Crown 300 is one of the prestigious Super Late Model events on the Southern Super Series schedule. Last year, Preston Peltier added his name to a winner’s list of who’s won in stock car racing. Past winners include Dick Trickle, Gary Balough, Darrell Waltrip, Rich Bickle, Ronnie Sanders, Chase Elliott and more. Make your plans now to be a part of the 31st Annual event on Saturday, August 9th. Click here for more information.

Different than what a lot of the drivers in the pit area are accustomed to, all drivers will participate in time trials later this evening.

Time trial results will set the field for 12-lap qualifying heats that will help determine the starting lineup for tonight’s 125-lap event.
