Awesome job Phil Ray! I worked with Phil as well during some of his ARCA races, he definitely deserves this.

11:06
Thanks Duke. It was fun tonight, other than the downtime with the “mechanical issue”
11:05
Comment From Duke – 51

Needles and Klotz
Long and Senneker
10:55
Really, I think Andy Bozell has been riding since he knows he hasn’t been on the same lap.
10:55
Comment From Kyle

If Andy gets back on the lead lap, how does he look compared to the leaders?

10:54
Phil Bozell has a right rear tire rub but the officials will pull that away from him. The track crew has been extremely busy tonight pulling fenders and quarters. They should have the experience to work for a body shop after tonight.
10:53
P Bozell, Jack, Hantz, Stremme, Needles, Long, Amor, Griffin, Ryman, and Ross are the top ten.
10:52

10:45
Getting ready to double up soon.
10:44
Blount, Sexton, Ganus, Shook, and Kugler are drivers not racing at this point.
10:43
Track crew is still working to clean the liquid up in turn three from Kugler’s engine.
10:43
The restarts have made this thing real interesting and have helped a number of drivers coming from the back to the front. My first time here, I like the place.
10:42
Comment From harley

Well wow wish I could make it to that track never been there before

10:41
17 drivers have completed all 75 laps but Kugler falling out will make it 16 on the lead lap.
10:41
Andy Bozell is 2 laps down but is the first driver eligible for the next lucky dog.
10:39
75 laps complete with 25 to go. $20,000 on the line. Terrible break for Kugler. Phil Bozell has been up and down this race but will be the leader on the next green.
10:38
Bozell, Hantz, Stremme, Amor, and Jack are now the top five. Griffin, Long, Needles, Roahrig, and Ross are the rest of the top ten.
10:37
Senneker is back on the lead lap.
10:36
Phil Bozell inherits lead. Scott Hantz is second now.
10:36
Kugler goes into the wall hard in three. Blown motor on the leader causes him to crash.
10:35
Kugler and Bozell in a two car breakaway. Hantz looks good but can’t get a run on Stremme. Now he does. Contact made. Hantz to third.
10:34
30 to go
10:34
Single file to about the 8th spot. Hantz pressuring Stremme for third.
10:33

10:33
65 laps in.
10:33
Kugler and P Bozell
Stremme and Roahrig
Hantz and Jack to the green
10:32
The very strong crowd watches as the field doubles up.
10:32
Senneker is in line for the next lucky dog if he can get a quick caution.
10:31
Needles is working his way back forward despite the early problem. Anything is possible, with these restarts.
10:31
Kugler, Stremme, Hantz, Amor, and Griffin are the top five. The rest of the top ten are P Bozell, Roahrig, Jack, Cassel, and Needles.
10:30
Bozell is now only 2 laps down.
10:29
Debris on the track bringing out the lap 65 caution. Senneker will now be penalized a lap for going inside the cone on the last restart but going to the outside lane. Drivers were warned in the driver meeting to avoid such a problem.
10:28
Terry Senneker is second on the track but will be penalized on the next caution one lap for going to one side of the cone then going to the opposite lane.
10:27
Amor is fourth and Griffin is fifth.
10:27
Senneker running the highside of Hantz for third as they follow Stremme.
10:26

10:26
Sorry for the inconvenience. Kugler seven car length lead on Stremme, Hantz, and Senneker.
10:26
I’m back. Brief equipment problem in the tower. We are now at lap 55. Kugler still leads.
10:14
32 complete.  Kugler still leads
10:13
Three car breakaway now.  27 complete.
10:13
Stremme starting to challenge Kugler.  Bumper to bumper throughout the field

10:10
Kugler, P Bozell, Stremme, Hantz, Sennekerr, Roahrig, Jack, Amor, Ryman, and Shook are the top ten.  Lineup is good.  Cone will be coming out soon.  Amazing how much shuffling goes on for the restarts.
10:08
Ross is now back on the lead lap.
10:08
21 laps are completed.  The #9 of Sexton and the #5 of Blount will be charged with the yellow.
10:07
Bobby Blount involved in a caution coming off of turn two.
10:06
All 22 cars are still on the track.
10:05
16 laps in.
10:05
Kugler, Bozell, Stremme, and Hantz first four.  Senneker dropes into 5th.
10:04
Kugler and Bozell
Stremme and Senneker
Hantz and Ryman
Roahrig and Jack
10:04
A failed restart as John Delarye tried to pick up some spots on the outside after going underneath the cone.
10:03
Brian Ross comes back out only one lap down.  So now he’ll be the lucky dog, possibly, on the next caution.
10:03
P Bozell from fourth to second for the restart.
10:01
Ryman, Roahrig, JAck, Amor, and Terry are the rest of the top ten.  Attaboy for Shawn Amor starting 22 and up to 9th.
10:00
14 laps in.  Kugler, Stremme, Hantz, P Bozell, and Senneker are the top five before the cone is on the frontstretch.
9:59
John Delarye spun on the frontstretch trying to avoid some contact in front of him.  Yellow back out.  Bozell gets another one back.  Now 4 laps down.
9:58
Stremme drops in front of Hantz for second.  Senneker is working the outside of Bozell for fourth.
9:58
Green back out.
9:58
Kugler, Stremme, Hantz, P Bozell, Ryman, and Senneker are the top six.
9:57
Cone is down.  Stremme from fifth to second for the restart.
9:57
Bozell is now just 5 laps down.
9:57
Ross was caught up in the aftermath of the accident by Needles.
9:56
Terry, P. Bozell, Senneker, Shook, and Jack are in positions 6-10.  Brian Ross has just gone pitside.
9:56
Amazingly, Needles looks like he will continue without a pitstop.  I cannot see the car running as well now after a wild mishap.  The track crew took care of his body work.
9:55
13 laps are completed.  Kugler, Hantz, Ryman, Roahrig, and Stremme are the top five.
9:54
Needles climbed up Roahrig in the accident.  Just received word that Roahrig will not be sent to the tail.
9:53
Hantz falls in line behind Kugler.  Steve Needles and Tyler Roahrig got together going into turn one.  Everyone pulls away.  14 and 24 are charged.
9:52
Green out.
9:51
Andy Bozell is now 6 laps down.
9:51
12 laps are complete.  After the cone…
Kugler and Hantz, Ryman and Roahrig, Needles and Stremme.
Oh boy…
9:49
The cone restart really helped Hantz and Needles.
9:49
Caution on lap 13 as the #1 of Cassel spun in turn four.  Top five is Kugler, Ryman, Hantz, Needles, and Terry.
9:48
Senneker was caught in the outside lane and fell in line in 8th.
9:47
Hantz up to third after one lap from restart.  Kugler leading Ryman.
9:47
Kugler and Ryman row one, Terry and Hantz row 2, Roahrig and Needles row 3.
9:45
I mentioned Madhouse restarts tonight.  They are not only double file, but the cone is placed on the frontstetch to allow drivers to choose inside or outside.  They are getting ready to double up now.
9:45
The track officials do pull fenders here.  So several drivers have taken advantage under this caution.
9:44
Shook gets the spot back from Hantz, as they reverted back to the last completed lap.
9:43
Needles brakes were glowing brightly during the short run at the start.  His teammate Senneker did not seem to be using the front brakes as hard.
9:43
There is a lucky dog on each caution, so Bozell needs 7 of them to get back on the lead lap.
9:42
Andy Bozell did not make it back out before the green.  Just now coming back on the track, but is 7 laps down.
9:42
7 laps complete.  Kugler, Terry, Ryman, Roahrig, and Stremme.  Others in the top ten are Hantz, Cassel, Needles, Senneker, and Jack.
9:41
Yellow for debris on the track.  Also, the #14 of Shook with his hood corner up in the air.
9:40
7 laps in.  Scott Hantz passing Mark Shook for sixth.
9:40
Ryman is challenging Terry for second as Kugler pulls away.
9:39
Top five single file.  Kugler, Terry, Ryman, Roahrig, and Stremme.
9:38
Kugler into the lead.
9:38
Here we go, Adam Terry and Mike Kugler to the green.
9:37
Wave lap this time by.  Everybody get up and wave, as you look at your computer.
9:36
Officials are waiting to see if Bozell can get ready but the crew said it will take about 5 minutes.
9:35
He will get his spot back, despite the pitstop.  Word over the radio has just said something may be wrong with the rearend as well.
9:34
The field is currently running some warmup laps.  The 8A of Andy Bozell dropped off the pace and is pulling into the infield to change a left front.
9:33
Oh, here we go boys and girls.  9th running of the Summer Sizzler at New Paris Speedway and never a repeat winner.  Five former winners are in tonight’s field.
9:31
Engines have been fired and the cars will get rolling in a moment.
9:27
Introductions have finished.  Drivers are buckling in and preparing for tonight’s race.  The madhouse style restarts shook things up in the B Main and will really be interesting in this one.  Starting deep in the field might not be as big of deal.
9:26
9:13
Thank you all for logging on.  The final four cars are being teched and the introduction will be ongoing soon.
9:08
Have had several like comments…  Was told by track officials that Ty Hayes initiated the on track issue during the Pat Riley memorial and was suspended for that.  Klotz was not the instigator of the issue, I was told.  Just passing along what I have heard.
9:06
Comment From patty

thought donny was kicked out for 2 weeks why is he in the race

9:05
Half the field has been placed on the grid.  1st place pays 10 times what 2nd place does.  The difference is $18,000.  $20,000 to win, $2,000 for second.
9:02

The first four or five cars are gridding on the frontstretch.  Once they are all on the grid, trio of announcers will be introducing the field one-by-one.  Then, under the lights, and what will be a starlit sky, the Summer Sizzler 100.
8:52
Bobby Blount qualified 20th and finished on the bubble.  He just made it into the race and will be starting from the 20th position in the feature.
8:51
Comment From Martinfan

What happen to Bobby Blount was at pratice yesterday but see nothing today.

8:50
The Summer Sizzler 100 cars are rolling through the infield across the scales and preparing for tonight’s $20,000 to win race.  Hold tight, grab a drink, a bite to eat.  The start is probably 30 minutes away.

8:38

Sommers with a 2/3 straightaway lead.
8:36
Stacy has moved by Bozell for fifth.
8:35
With 29 complete, Whitman got into Lober for second, but both continued.  Sommers is pulling away.
8:34
9 cars remain as we prepare for the final 23 laps.
8:33
Parr has gone pitside.
8:33
May has decided to restart at the tail.  We’ll see if the car’s handle still gives him problems.  He looked good early.
8:32
Sommers, Lober, Maynard, Whitman, and Bozell are the top five.  Steve Stacy, Cory Pressler, Craig Everage, and Greg Parr complete the field.  27 complete.
8:31
May nearly lost it on the backstretch, regathered, and then spun in turn four.  Possibly a tire going down causing the spin.
8:31
Sommers sets sail in his sharp #32.  At halfway, Sommers, May, Lober, Maynard, and Kenny Whitman are the top five.
8:30
Sommers to the bottom of May on Lap 21.  Sommers uses all 8 tires to take the lead off of four.
8:29
Ready for another restart.  May and Sommers up front.
8:28
May, Lober, Sommers, Bozell, and Maynard are the top five.
8:28
SCHEDULE CHANGE.  The Mini Stock feature will now be held last.  The Summer Sizzler 100 will be coming up next.
8:26
Make it 20 complete.
8:26
Caution out on lap 21 for Charlie Hanna.  He was running fifth.  Putting fluid out on the track.  Looked like overheating.
8:25
Sommers pressuring Lober for second.  A little contact but they keep moving.
8:24

8:23
May holds the lead as Boal dropped back to fourth.
8:23
Ready for the restart.
8:22
Rich Boal goes from fourth to second for the restart.  First three went to the inside lane.  Charlie Hanna went from the back to fourth as no one chose the outside lane.
8:20
Madhouse style restarts all night long.  This will be the first one, as the first couple of yellows were setting up complete restarts.
8:19
Drew Charlson has gone pitside under this caution.
8:19
Justin May, Dave Lober, Josh Sommers, Rich Boal, and Ron Maynard, Jr. are the top five.
8:19
Caution comes out at lap 11 after Craig Everage is spun to the infield.  That will bunch up the field.  #32 of Pressler will go to the tail with Everage for the cause of the caution.
8:17
Rich Boal has joined the third place battle on lap nine.
8:17
Great racing in the pack, but that has allowed the lead duo to a straightaway lead.
8:16
Pratt and Sommers have been side-by-side for third for the first four circuits.
8:16
May and Lober a two car breakaway with battles for third, fourth, and fifth.
8:15
Justin May races into the lead.
8:15
Coming to green.

8:13
Justin May now moves up to the pole with Lober on the outside pole.
8:12
Still getting everyone lined back up for another restart.  Nettrour has gone pitside and is done for the night.
8:10
No one looks too badly damaged, but Kim Nettrour looks to have the rear end shifted over to the left.
8:09
Dave Lober spun in the first row coming to the green.  Several others collected.
8:08
Field is realligned and coming to green for a second time.
8:06
Complete restart.
8:06
One to go is in the air.  50 lap B-Main.  Kim Nettrour and Dave Lober to the green.  Lober into the lead.  Caution quickly for Josh Sommers as he dumps fuel.  Can smell it in the tower.
8:04
Looks like all 16 scheduled drivers are on the track.
8:04
The B Feature is on the track and getting ready for green.

Second group is set to go.
6:12
The crowd is filling in nicely with just a little less than an hour til racetime.  I feel that qualifying late is a big advantage since there are long breaks between each group for tech.  The last few guys will probably be qualifying with temperatures a degree or two less.  No clouds will affect qualifying as there are none to be seen.
6:08
Tech is ongoing for the second group of cars. Phil Bozell and Corey Ryman have rolled across the scales, while the other 6 are waiting.
6:05
1st group is done.  Second group is coming into the infield.  Here is your rundown so far…

Qualifying is set to begin.  Hold on tight.  Good luck to your driver as he tries to make the top 20.
5:55
The invert will be a three dice roll tonight.  Word has it, that each of the top three qualifiers will roll one die after the time trial session comes to an end.
5:53
Again, just the top 20 qualifiers will make the show.  2 other provisionals, the top driver in New Paris points and the top time from practice, not making the show will start 21 and 22 if no past Champion is added to the field.
5:51
Four drivers have rolled across the scales with four to go before qualifying begins.
5:45
The first group of Supers are going across the scales on the infield and preparing to qualify.  First to go will be Jeff Bozell in the #99.
5:42
Stremme did finish the session as quickest.  He picked up a $25 bonus for his effort.  It is his first appearance in the newly built car.
5:40
With a couple of late arrivals still to qualify in the Mini’s, Bobby Stremme is currently quickest.  He is also running the Summer Sizzler tonight, the only driver doing double duty.
5:39
5:33
Looks like there will end up being over 20 minis.  They kept arriving all afternoon, as many drivers decided to show up after work.  Just a few to go before the first Super group goes to the infield for qualifying.
5:30
Hantz was 6th in the first session and 13th in the second.  As the defending champion of the race, I would say he is a definite threat tonight.
5:29

The Mini Stocks are lining up on the infield for qualifications.  18 are on hand for the $500 to win special.  When their time trials come to an end, the first group (8 cars) of Late Models will go to the infield for tech and qualifying.
5:07
Qualifying will lock the top 20 into the race.  Each driver will receive 3 laps for their fast time.  Green, green, white, and checkered.  The fast qualifier will roll three dice for the invert in tonight’s $20,000 to win A-Main.

4:47
Final practice is over.  Terry Senneker was quickest with a 13.545.  Complete rundown soon.
4:45
The two drivers that haven’t been out in the second session are Alex Pratt and Kim Nettrour.
4:31
With 15 minutes left in practice, 37 drivers have been on the speedway.  Officials have said that 39 are pitside for tonight’s race.  Qualifying alone, should be fantastic.
4:27
There is actually a good number of people watching practice.  Qualifying for the supers doesn’t start until after 5 and fans are starting to lineup at the gate to get in.
4:25
The top five remains unchanged.  Terry Senneker, Donny Klotz, Mark Shook, Jeff Ganus, and Brent Jack.  Steve Needles, who was the fastest in the first session, is currently sixth.
4:24
The first caution came out 1 hour and 25 minutes into practice.  No big deal, just a piece of debris.
4:23
Bobby Stremme, the track’s point leader, crashed his car in the Pat Riley memorial last weekend.  He jumped into a backup car for the second feature last Saturday, and picked up the win.  He is, again, in the backup car tonight.
4:16
In the first eight years of the race, there has not been a repeat winner.  Of the former champions, only two are not driving tonight, Erv Starrett and Jack Landis.  Andy Bozell, John Delarye, Ron Maynard, Jr., John Long, Jeff Ganus, and Scott Hantz all will be looking to claim the $20,000 top prize.
4:12
#5 Jeff Ganus has moved into fourth, while #41 Brent Jack is now fifth.  The top three remains unchanged.  Terry Senneker has improved the best lap to a 13.545.
4:05
37 drivers have been on the track so far this session.  Donny Klotz is second, Mark Shook 3rd, Tyler Roahrig 4th, and Adam Terry 5th.
4:03
13.676 is currently quickest in the second session.  The driver…#37 Terry Senneker.
3:47
The second practice has begun.  Hopefully, this hour long session goes as smoothly as the first.  No spins, no crashes, no mechanical issues.
3:44
The weather conditions are picture perfect.  A mostly sunny sky with 85 degrees.  Racing starts at 7 tonight with evening temperatures in the 70’s.
3:41
The other division here tonight is the Open Competition 50 Lap Mini-Stock $500 to win feature.  So far, 14 mini’s are pitside with more expected to show.
3:39
20 is the important number for this show, as the top 20 qualifiers lock into the Summer Sizzler 100.  Just two other provisionals will join the field.  A possible past champion and the fastest from practice, not making the show, will also join the field.
3:35

3:18
Practice session #1 has been completed. Updated times coming soon.
3:06
So far, Steve Needles is quickest in practice with a 13.633. He made his first Sizzler appearance one year ago and set fast time.
3:03
The first of two practice sessions for the Super Late Models began shortly after 2:30 and will run until 3:15. Practice #2 will be from 3:45-4:45. Haven’t received an official car count for today’s event yet, but 30 were hotlapping during the Wednesday night practice session.
