9:54

CHECKERED FLAG: L.W. Miller wins the Strutmasters.com 199 at Bowman Gray Stadium.

L.W. Miller passes Burt Myers in Turn 3 on Lap 183.

9:48

Lapped cars could be an issue here as we are getting down to the final laps of the race.  LW Miller has worked his way back to the bumper of Burt Myers.

6:26

The event tonight is going to be recorded for TV coverage on the Versus channel.  While it will not be live, we think it is pretty cool that the Modifieds are getting noticed this year with television coverage. The scheduled air date for tonight’s event is on Wednesday, August 18th, at 7PM.  There will be at least one replay that we are aware of (Aug. 22nd at 11PM).

James Civali is the points leader coming into tonight. (51 Sports Photo)

6:08

Yesterday we commented about the lights here at the track being on with the sun shining bright over the track.  They are on once again today as the sun isn’t even close to setting.  The track told us they had a time in the past went they went to cut the lights on when it was getting dark and they never came on, forcing them to cancel the night’s events.  Now, the track prefers to cut them on way early in case there is a problem so they can fix it before it is too late.

6:06

The NASCAR Modifieds will have a short practice session right now.

6:05

Mostly just tires and a slight adjustment in the rear end. The Tour tires are a few inches wider than the Stadium tires.

Last night’s Stadium Modified race provided a lot of excitement for the fans at the Madhouse. On lap 35, Jonathan Brown gave a shot to race leader Burt Myers that sent him spinning, placing Myers in the rear while Jonathan Brown moved into the lead. Brown was able to stay up front and claim the checkered. Brown was greeted with a shower of boos in Victory Lane. Jonathan Brown will not be racing tonight, but Myers will look to salvage the weekend.

5:44

James Civiali comes in here tonight as the point leader. He has a 24-point lead over fomer champion L.W. Miller.Luke Fleming will be in the field tonight after winning his only NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour here at the Stadium last year. Fleming had a solid run in qualifying here at the Stadium last night.

Jason Myers and Burt Myers will be running their Stadium Modifieds that they raced here last night in today’s NASCAR event. Burt lead a good chunk of last night’s event before finishing eighth. Jason finished on the podium in second.

Frank Fleming will be looking for redemption on his brother Chris’ behalf. The younger brother, Chris, was chasing down a win on the final lap last night when he hit the Turn 2 wall with the aid of a lap car. Chris is at the track today and he is o.k. His car, however, is a different story.

5:38

Tim Brown is racing the number 02 here tonight at the Bowman Gray Stadium. Brown will also run the number 02 at Bristol in a few weeks.

5:35

Tim Brown may not be in his blue number 83 tonight, but he is racing at the stadium and hopes his fans will pick up some merchandise at the track. (51 Sports Photo)
