Mike Garvey has had his car on jack stands all day other then the first practice. After a good lap this morning and some good runs last night they are ready for the race today. Garvey won the Pro Late Model feature here a few weeks back. That car is in the trailer and is ready for Nashville’s race tomorrow.

Time trials will start at the top of the hour for all divisions.

We spoke to Logan Boyett who said he thinks he’ll be sore tomorrow. Boyett saw flames after the car hit the wall and was out the car about 10 seconds after it stopped. All Boyett could add to the situation was that he’ll be back and he hopes to be as fast as he was here today.

Another fun story from the pits was with Augie Grill. Speed51.com told him he was making a lot of lap in practice and he said we always tell him that. He then asked for the Alabama football score. In the south the priorities are different on Saturdays in the falls.
2:55
Larry Speakman went to tech with his Open Sportsman which has a 2001 body on it. The car raced at several Alabama area track and some that are no longer around. The class is for old Late Models and there are a few rules that have to be met before it can race.

For more information on the class click here. http://www.montgomerymotors…

1:18
Augie Grill could become the second driver in series history to lead over 1000 laps tonight. Right now he has led 951 coming into this 200 lap race.
1:12
1:12
Speaking of Pollard he sat on the pole for the Alabama 200, World Crown 300, and several other big races last year.
1:09
Later today the fast time award winner will receive $500 from the presenting sponsors Hamner Racing Engines, McGunegill Engine Performance, Progressive Racing Engines, Ford Racing, and RW Racing Engines.

In the past here Augie Grill has set fast time twice, Daniel Hermic, Chase Elliott and Bubba Pollard all have done it once. Pollard sat on the pole for the Alabama 200 here last year.

1:06
The local races today are non-point events as the track championship have already been awarded for this season. In Open Wheel Modified Donnie Hamrac was the champion. Joel Collier took the Mini Mod title, Dewayne Wesenberg won the Street Stock crown, in Open Sportsman it was Justin Caton who took the top honors.

The Pro Late Models had perhaps the most interesting point battle as John Bolen and Bill Bethea III were tied at the end of the season, but Bolen came out on top thanks to tie breakers.

Team can have six tires in the pits. Four stickers and two scuffs for flats only. Officials will mark those tires differently so they can no be mixed and matched. Teams will also pit on the left and right side of the pit wall break at the start finish line together to avoid spacing and to help officials monitor the tire changes.
12:04
Tonight’s race will be 200 laps with cautions laps counting up until lap 190. The race is an eight-tire race with teams being able to change their four tires at any point. There will still be a competition yellow at or near lap 101.

The points battle is the hot topic in the pit area as Bubba Pollard leads Daniel Hemric by just 25 points. Augie Grill is 55 points back in third followed by Anderson Bowen who is 74 back. Donnie Wilson is fifth 92 points back.

The way the series points work would allow for any of these drivers to gain enough points over the next three races to win the SSS crown. Last year the crown came down to one spot as Daniel Hemric slipped by Bubba Pollard at Nashville.
