Curt Britt is a former racer and Truck owner in the GMP Truck division who got into a truck he built for fellow Georgia racer Rodney Benefield today and went to victory lane.  There, Britt became emotional.

"It's my birthday today," said Britt in victory lane.  "I told Rodney and Charles (Benefield) that I really wanted to at least race one more time.  I built this truck to go to the Snowball Derby last year.  I put my heart and soul into this thing.  Before this weekend I had only driven it about seven or eight laps.  It means a lot to win a race that I put this much into and see what it's capable of."

Britt's Truck features a special autism awareness paint scheme.

"My son has autism.  It can be difficult at times.  This is to be able to come out and do this allows you to get a clear mind and a clear focus.  I need to be a better dad, to be honest with you.  Rodney's son suffers from some things as well as autism, so we put this scheme on there."

RACE PROCEDURES
Tonight's World Crown 300 will be 300 laps with no scheduled competition cautions. Yellow flag laps will count for the first 290 laps, but they will not count in the final 10 laps.

There will be a maximum of two attempts at a green-white-checkered restart.

The race will be considered official at the conclusion of lap 151.

It's a 12 tire race, the four that the cars qualify and start the race on, plus two more sets. Those are the only tires allowed in a pit stall tonight.

DRIVERS MEETING NOTES

While it's warm and dry here at GMP for the time being, drivers have had an eye in the sky throughout the day. Track General Manager John Close told drivers that the chance of precipitation is rapidly declining, so all systems are go for tonight's race.

Yesterday, thunderstorms delayed the start of practice, but once the rain halted, track officials were able to get the track dried in one hour and 10 minutes.

"Whatever weather we may get, we will work through it," Close said in the drivers meeting. "If we get weather, we will adjust the schedule accordingly."

Close then was quick to point out again that the chance of rain is declining for today's event, which is good news for everyone.
