3:06
If you’ve never visited Montgomery Motor Speedway, it is a fine facility with a 5/8 mile sun-bleached asphalt oval. The corners are fairly flat, wide, and sweeping. In the corners you can run two wide and there is a third lane to catch a car if you get caught up in a mess. The frontstretch and backstretch are very wide, you could run five cars side-by-side down it with room to spare.

Robbins’ number may be the same, but pretty much everything else has changed for the Alabaman. Earlier this week, he and previous car owner Ronnie Sanders had what was called a mutual split. Sanders is going to put his Super Late Model operation in mothballs for a few months to regroup and regain some energy in his operation while Robbins wanted to see if shaking things up and pulling out his own Hunter Robbins Racing machine could propel him to victory lane. So the #18 he will race today is out of his own operation.

Though it is hot, it’s been mostly cloudy today keeping the temperatures down a little bit. Of course, as we type that, the sun breaks through the cloudcover.

Weather for tonight’s race should be perfect with temps in the mid-80s and a minimal chance for rain.

Tonight’s race marks the halfway point of the season, with 8 races of 16 being in the books by night’s end.  Bubba Pollard won four straight races in the series, but a little bit of inconsistency has kept the door open in the points race. Pollard leads Anderson Bowen by fifteen points and Augie Grill by twenty-six. Defending series champ Daniel Hemric, Donnie Wilson, Kyle Grissom, and Hunter Robbins all remain within striking distance of the crown as well, though it’s going to take some wins for them to get their names back into the forefront of the fray.
