That will conclude tonight’s Speed51.com Trackside Now coverage from Five Flags Speedway. We’ll be back in just a few hours from Mobile International Speedway in Alabama for the second round of the Gulf Coast Doubleheader for the Southern Super Series presented by Sunoco, the Miller Lite 125 presented by ARbodies.

Special thanks once again to ARbodies for their support of tonight’s Trackside Now coverage on Speed51.com.

Tomorrow’s Mobile event will be one of five live coverage events on the docket forSpeed51.com.

Until then, good night from Five Flags Speedway where Daniel Hemric is officially the winner of the Pepsi Max 125 presented by Penske Racing Shocks.

1:12
Daniel Hemric of Kannapolis, North Carolina, is now a first-time Southern Super Series winner.

“Nobody likes to win races like that, but this place is known for some wild things to happen this year,” said Hemric. “Last time we were here, Bubba (Pollard) dominated the race and got taken out by a lapped car and TJ Reaid won. TJ put himself in position to win that night and we put ourselves in position by working hard week in and week out. Our hard work got us second, but with the tech stuff with Augie, it gave us the win.

“I can’t cut everyone on this Carswell Motorsports team short. They give it their all. We’ve worked so hard and we’ve been so close. It’s refreshing, but I’d like to go to Mobile tomorrow and do it the right way.”

Head tech inspector Ricky Brooks did make a point in the driver’s meeting today that Sunoco purple fuel is the spec fuel of the series as Sunoco is a presenting sponsor of the series.
1:03
Speed51.com just caught up with Augie Grill for his statement on the disqualification.

“There’s traces of VP fuel, or some other fuel other than Sunoco purple, in the fuel cell,” said Grill.  “We put 20 gallons of gas in it today from the racetrack.  I’ve never beenthrown out for something so minute, but it’s Ricky Brooks that we’re talking about.  There’s six dump cans of gas at our shop from customers’ cars, maybe they’ve got pink stuff, maybe they didn’t.  For us to put 20 gallons of gas in the thing today from the racetrack and it still show up, I don’t know.  If they keep checking it, I know we won’t be the only ones they get.”

12:24
TECH UPDATE
Augie Grill has been disqualified for unauthorized fuel.  That hands the win to Daniel Hemric.  We are working our way down to the pits for a statment from the parties involved.

Under this caution, we have a chance to send some well-wishes to Stephen Nasse.  The Pinellas Park, Florida racer has been a staple of this, the inaugural season of the Southern Super Series.  Nasse fell seriously ill several weeks back and spent a week in a series of hospitals near his Florida home.  He is now home and working his way back into racing shape.  He hoped to be back for this weekend’s events on the Gulf Coast, but instead he is eyeing the next Southern Super Series race after this weekend, the July 4 World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park.  We’re sure Stephen is following along with tonight’s coverage and we at Speed51.com, the racers here tonight and fans across the country are looking forward to getting him back on the track.

CHECKERED FLAG: Michael Nelson of Pensacola, Florida wins the 20-lap Bomber feature over Tracy Soles and Robert Balkum.
8:34
5 laps to go in the Bomber race. Nelson continues to lead over Soles, Robert Balkum, Ryan Worsham and Hunter Ward
8:32
A lap after the green returned, the 11 of Rodrigues came onto the track and stayed right in the groove as the leaders approached.  Nelson, the leader, had to go high to avoid the slower car and almost caught the wall in turn three.  Soles went low to split the lapped car.  The two leaders somehow escaped unscathed and still run one-two.
8:28
YELLOW FLAG Lap 7: Jimmy Day slows to a crawl on the backstretch.
8:27
Lap 6:  Lead change as Nelson takes the lead from Noles.  Ryan Worsham is third.
8:26
GREEN FLAG: Soles holds the lead, but Nelson is right there.
8:25
Tracy Soles will inherit the Bomber lead with Michael Nelson on his outside for the restart.
8:24
YELLOW FLAG Lap 4: Courtney Rodrigues spun on the back stretch.  Under the caution, the leader Merritt comes to pit road after having some issues on his car just as the yellow came out.
8:22
That’s right, don’t forget, just because Bubba Pollard set fast time for the Super Late Model race, doesn’t mean he’ll start from the pole.  Just before strapping into his car, he will roll dice for the starting invert.
8:22
Comment From Classic Pro Lube

Congratulations Bubba Pollard fastest qualifying time. Good luck rolling that dice. Pulling for you to hold #1 position in SSS.

8:21
GREEN FLAG: Merritt opens up an early leader, but Soles is right on his back bumper after a lap.

On Memorial Day weekend, the Southern Super Series and Blizzard Series had a wild first race of 2013 here at Five Flags Speedway.  Bubba Pollard set fast time with a new track record and dominated much of the 125-lap feature, but tangled with a lapped car just a few laps short of the chedckered flag.  That handed the lead and the win over to Acworth, Georgia’s TJ Reaid.
