THE IMPOUND

After qualifying all cars are lined up on pit road and impounded.  Teams cannot touch the cars until 15 minutes prior to going on the grid.  If a car is touched or needs to be taken from the impound area for any reason there will be a one lap penalty accessed and that car will not be eligible for the Lucky Dog for the first 25 green flag laps.

This is in response to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding Allen Karnes during the last Gulf Coast Series weekend during May.  Karnes needed to work on his car after qualifying last on the grid.  Not being able to do so, Karnes pulled his car from the line up and packed up to go home.  This rule change will give drivers in dire need of adjustments a chance to get up to speed.

7:50
The local driver's meeting has just concluded and the Super Stocks are lining up on the grid for their feature.

Logan Boyett is looking to really show his might tonight in Pensacola.  The local driver has began to turn up the wick in recent weeks and was 4th in practice today.
6:57
The word on Hunter Robbins is that he had issues of some kind with his hauler.  Those issues will prevent the points leader from defending his lead tonight.  Robbins was looking forward to a strong run in Pensacola after ignition issuse ended his night early last week in Montgomery.

NO GRILL, NO ROBBINS

Noticeably absent today are drivers Augie Grill and Hunter Robbins.  Pensacola News Journal’s Chuck Corder told Speed51 that he spoke with Grill last night.  Corder said that Grill isn’t coming to tonight’s race because of the massive work load at the GARC fabrication shop on customer cars.  Robbins, at this time, is a mystery.  The Elantra 100 winner was scheduled and very excited to be coming back to Pensacola after struggling in Montgomery last week.  Coming into the weekend, Robbins was the Allen Turner Pro Late Model points standings leader.
