The biggest nugget is that practice was run today without any major accidents and only a couple of drivers making contact with the wall.  Those drivers, in the local ranks, will have two fast weeks to get their cars ready for Derby Weekend.
6:32
I appologize for the lengthly deley in posting.  My mobile device ran out of “gas”.  That said, the final practice sessions for Late Models featured mock qualifying runs.  Without official timing today, I had to ask around for times.  The Pros were lapping in the 17.13-17.18 range.  No times for Supers unfortunatley.

Ronnie Sanders, owner of the #18 machines that Bubba Pollard has raced to 19 wins this season, told us that winning is much tougher than win he was racing.  “When I was running the races were a lot shorter,” said Sanders.  “These days it costs just as much or not more to run, so the bigger races are more worth the effort.  I once won 27 or so races one year, but that was back when the races were 40-50 laps.”

The Ronnie Sanders Racing team is shaking down the car the was damaged in an accident with Chase Elliott in the North-South Shootout in Caraway a few weeks ago.

The tech shed is open to all competitors.  Today is an opportunity for teams to have their cars scrutinized by the tech inspectors and not be crunched by the busy raceday schedule.  Undoubtably, teams will work to get every advantage possible, without crossing the lines set forth in the rule book.

If you joined us yesterday, you’ll know that mother nature foiled the schedule as persistant rain prevented all but one brief round of Bomber practice.  The good news is that today the track is dry and most everyone from yesterday stuck around for today.  In fact, there are a few additional teams here today.
