Today, Speed51.com’s staff will be awarding a Speed Media Best Appearing Car title to the driver with the best-looking car in the Super Late Model starting lineup here for the Rowdy 251.

Speed Media, based in Cedar Springs, Michigan, is setting the standard for racecar designs and graphics.  Speed Media’s designs have won many awards, including the fan-voted Speed51.com Best Appearing Car Award during the Snowball Derby weekend in the past.

We will show photos of the finalists that our Speed51.com staff will vote on and we’ll announce the winner just before tonight’s Super Late Model feature.

3:56
Final practice has concluded. Alec Carll was fastest. We will have a full field rundown shortly.
3:54
Joe Bush, the new driver in the 00 for this race, nearly made contact with the wall, but was able to save it.

3:51
Speeds on the track right now are faster then they have been all week. Johnny VanDoorn has also busted off a lap in the 16.3 second bracket, putting him second on the board.
3:51
Neither has been here at Berlin this week.

Comment From Guest

Chase Elliott makes laps during the brief practice on Wednesday. (Speed51.com Photo)
3:47
Alec Carll is currently on top of the leader board in this session. He now holds the fastest lap time of the week thus far over Kyle Busch. His lap of 16.355 in this session makes him the only car in the 16.3 second bracket this week.
3:45
40 cars were here for competition yesterday.  By our count, 38 remain here today.  As we mentioned, Ross Kenseth left to prepare for tomorrow’s ASAMT race in Wisconsin.  The other car we have not yet located visually is Justin Alsip’s.
3:44
Only ten minutes remain in this final practice for today. We are hearing that the track has dryed up well.
3:44
We figure every car will hit the track at least once in this 15-minute session because of the track conditions having changed due to the rain last night.  Elliott has yet to go on track thus far, however.
3:44
Comment From JC

is Chase Elliott heading out to practice

3:43
The 25 car of Ross Kenseth is the ONLY car not racing today that was here yesterday. Kenseth had to get back to prepare for tomorrows ASA Midwest Tour Race in Wausau, Wisconsin. Andy Ponstein’s 00 machine will be on track today, however he will not be driving. Due to a wedding scheduling conflict, Ponstein couldn’t be here and his car will be driven by Joe Bush.
3:38
Kelsey Steele, Cole Powell, Justin Regnerus, Allen Karnes and Eric Jones also on track.
3:38
Cars are on track.  Chris Koslek and Cole Powell were the first two on track.
3:37
Feature racing begins at 7pm with the CRA Last Chance race.  Then it will be a 50-lap Modified race, followed immediately by the Rowdy 251.  Therefore, we’ll say an approximate 8:15pm green flag, but that is tentative.
3:37
Comment From Guest

3:33
Several cars have begun to line up for practice.
3:32

3:27
Tonight’s forecast is improving minute-by-minute.  As of right now, there’s no rain in the forecast for the entire time we’re expecting cars on the track from here on in.  We should be good to go for tonight’s events.  Come on down and get your tickets early because they’ve been selling like hotcakes here this week and you will not want to miss this show.

As soon as we have a chance to walk across the track (when the track dryers are off the surface), we’ll find out who, if anyone, did not show back up today after yesterday’s rainout.

One car that we know did not show back up today is Ross Kenseth’s. Kenseth has a points race in the ASA Midwest Tour tomorrow at State Park Speedway in Wausau, WI. The team had to leave Berlin to set their car up for the race tomorrow. Kenseth is currently the point leader in the ASA Midwest Tour.

Last night, the CRA Super Late Models were just about ready to hit the track for their qualifying session when the skies opened up and several big thunderstorms wiped out the racing action for the second-straight year on the original Rowdy race date. We’re back here today for more practice, which will begin once the track is dry, qualifying for the SLM’s, then the SLM last-chance races and the Modified and SLM features tonight.

Our Trackside Now coverage was delayed approximatley 90 minutes because of a rain shower that passed through the area. The track was fairly soggy, but as soon as the rain stopped, track crews hit the asphalt to start getting it race ready.

Good afternoon and welcome to a sunny (finally!) Marne, Michigan, where tonight the Rowdy 251 will go green in front of a packed house at Berlin Raceway.
