Go Garvey

10:28

Full results coming shortly.

10:28

CHECKERED – Garvey wins his second Allen Turner Pro Late Model 100 of the season over DJ VanderLey who gets sideways coming to the line and slides by sideways!

10:27

WHITE FLAG – Garvey gets loose into turn one and VanderLey gives him a shove through two. They are nose-to-tail taking the white flag.

10:26

Lap 97 – VanderLey closes back in on Garvey and they are a straightaway ahead of the rest of the field.

10:26

We will see!

10:25

Comment From Hot Rod

It will be a GARC

10:25

Comment From Maddux

Go get ’em #18 Hunter Robbins!

10:25

Lap 95 – With five laps remaining Garvey leads VanderLey, Davidson, Robbins, Buggay, Davis and Niedecken.

10:24

Lap 90 – Garvey now leads VanderLey by ten car lengths or more.

10:24

Lap 88 – VanderLey loses it down the backstretch and shoots to the inside. He doesn’t make contact and is able to keep going in the second spot as Garvey goes around the outside for the lead.

10:23

Lap 86 – As they work around more lapped traffic Garvey gets right up on VanderLey’s bumper and prepares to make his move for the top spot.

10:22

Lap 84 – Garvey is closing in on VanderLey each lap and could be on his bumper in just a few short laps.

10:22

Lap 82 – The battle between Buggay and Davis for the fifth spot has settled down and Buggay now holds about five car lengths over Davis.

10:21

Lap 80 – With twenty laps remaining, VanderLey continues to lead Garvey, Davidson, Robbins, Buggay, Davis and Niedecken.

10:21

Lap 78 – VanderLey quickly leaves the scene still with the lead but with Garvey a little closer in tow now.

10:20

Lap 77 – VanderLey moves under Crocker with ease as he gives him the inside line but Bryant holds him up and allows Garvey to close in.

10:20

Lap 76 – VanderLey and Garvey have now closed in on Bryant and Crocker at the tail of the field. This could get exciting at the front of the field.

10:19

Lap 72 – As the field works around the lapped machine of Grisaffi, Hunter Robbins uses the opportunity to pull away from Buggay and Davis by a strong five car lengths.

10:18

Lap 68 – If we stay green it will only take VanderLey and Garvey a matter of laps to catch up to Donald Crocker and the rear of the field.

10:17

Lap 66 – Behind Davidson it is another then car lengths back to Robbins, Buggay and Davis all nose-to-tail in positions four through six.

10:17

Lap 64 – VanderLey and Garvey have pulled away by over ten car lengths over Davidson in third.

10:16

They have both been to Victory Lane this year in their new situations and both seem to be happy with the success they’re finding in their separate seasons.

10:16

Comment From Guest

Sanders needs to partner up with Pollard again – no one is doing much for him.

10:15

Lap 60 – Buggay gets sideways off turn four behind Robbins but still manages to hold onto the fifth spot without letting Davis by.

10:15

Lap 58 – Davis is employing every line he can to try to make his way around Buggay off turn two each lap but just can’t make his #29 machine stick long enough to take the spot.

10:14

Lap 56 – Robbins has now pulled away from Buggay and Davis by a solid car length as they continue to battle behind him.

10:13

10:13

Lap 53 – In a heated battle for the fifth spot, Buggay and Davis have closed in on Robbins in fourth.

10:12

HALFWAY – VanderLey leads Garvey, Davidson, Robbins, Buggay, Davis, Niedecken, Hausler, Craig, Bryant, Thorpe, Crocker and Grisaffi.

10:11

Lap 48 – Buggay now looks under Robbins for the fourth spot off turn four but can’t hold the line down the frontstrech and falls back in line fifth.

10:10

Lap 46 – The field is single-filed around this historic half-mile oval as we approach the halfway point.

10:10

Lap 44 – Davis looks under Buggay for the fifth spot but thinks better of it and falls in line sixth.

10:10

Lap 42 – VanderLey has pulled out to a three car length lead over Garvey.  However, now clear of Davidson, Garvey is closing in… and I think we all know how exciting Pro Late Model racing cen get when the #1 and the #2 find each other.

10:09

Lap 40 – Garvey clears Davidson but Robbins falls in line behind him in fourth.

10:08

Lap 39 – Garvey holds the inside line under Davidson and takes the second spot away on the bottom with Robbins in tow.

10:08

GREEN: VanderLey moves ahead on the start in the inside line with Garvey in tow.

10:07

One lap to the green at lap 38.

10:05

Grisaffi comes to pit road under this caution and Dan Spence reminds him that Five Flags Speedway does enforce a “Three-Spin Rule” and he is dangerously close to his limit.

10:04

YELLOW – Grissafi spins again bringing out the caution on his own.

10:04

Lap 38 – As Hausler falls through the field, Buggay makes it by to take the sixth spot away.

10:04

Lap 37 – Now Davis moves under Hausler on the inside to break into the top-five.

10:03

Lap 36 – As they shake out VanderLey leads Davidson, Garvey, Robbins, Hausler and Davis.

10:03

Lap 34 – Garvey and Hausler are side by side for third as Robbins and Davis are side by side for fifth behind them.

10:02

It’s our pleasure.

10:02

Comment From RaceFan

Great job coverin guys! Appreciate all y’all do for the sport

10:02

GREEN: Davidson holds the lead by a nose at the line but VanderLey still gets the lead on the outside off turn two.

10:02

Spence has reminded VanderLey to let Davidson start the race.

10:02

YELLOW – Race Director Dan Spence doesn’t like VanderLey’s antics on the start and waves it off.  We will have a full restart. One lap to the green.

10:01

GREEN: VanderLey gets the jump on the outside off turn four and takes the lead.

10:00

Grisaffi has pulled away under his own power and the field is now getting the one to go signal.

9:59

YELLOW – The caution is out for a spin in turn two. Grisaffi has come to a stop along the inside wall.

9:58

Lap 32 – Davidson holds a three car length lead on VanderLey who is closing in steadily.

9:58

Lap 30 – VanderLey slides right by Hausler to take away the second spot.  Hausler gave him the inside line and again it took little effort to move up another position for VanderLey.

9:57

Lap 28 – Niedecken is right on the back bumper of Robbins who is leading the second pack.

9:56

Lap 27 – Garvey now closes in on Davis in the fourth spot.

9:56

Lap 25 – VanderLey slides under Davis down the backstretch and takes the third spot away with very little effort.

9:55

Lap 23 – The only battle on track right now is DJ VanderLey closing in on the #29 of Spencer Davis each lap for the third position.

9:55

Lap 21 – The second pack of cars, from the sixth position back, are now a straightaway behind the lead back of the top-five led by Davidson.

9:53

So far the fastest lap of the race was set by Mike Garvey with a 17.799.

9:52

Lap 14 – The top-five cars have broken away from the rest of the field by eight car lengths.

9:52

Ron McDonald has come to pit road and appears to be out of the event.

9:52

Lap 10 – Davidson leads Hausler, Davis, Garvey, VanderLey, Robbins, Niedecken Jr, Buggay, Crocker, Bryant, Thorpe, Grisaffi and Craig.

9:51

Lap 8 – VanderLey shoots to the outside of Robbins on the outside into turn three and finally takes the spot into turn one.

9:50

Lap 6 – VanderLey looks under Robbins down the backstretch but can’t make his #2 machine stick into turn three and Robbins closes the door.

9:50

Lap 5 – As they settle into line Davidson leads Hausler, Davis, Garvey, Robbins and VanderLey.

9:49

Lap 4 – Hausler takes second on the outside and Davis falls in third ahead of Garvey in fourth.

9:49

GREEN: Davidson rockets to the lead off turn two and clears Hausler and Davis who are side by side down the backstretch.

Good luck to all the drivers tonight. Hope to see most of them tomorrow at South Alabama.

9:23

Comment From Korey Ruble

We really wanted to be there tonight but since we don’t have a backup car we decided to sit this one out. We have a goal that we are trying to accomplish at Opp, and that’s to win the points championship…. We will definitely be back for the next one at Five Flags.

9:23

Correction to our earlier post: there are four divisions and we now have one remaining.  The final segment will be the 13+ age division.

9:17

Two out of three age divisions of the bike races have concluded and we have one left to run before lining up the Allen Turner Pro Late Model 100.

9:03

8:17

Although there could be any number of determining factors, today’s treacherous temperatures didn’t help the situation any.  There were also a few cars lost as well since South Alabama Speedway is running tomorrow night and drivers like Ryan Redmond and Korey Ruble chose to save their equipment for that event since they are running for points there.

8:17

Comment From Jim

Why the low car count

8:13

The ceremonies have concluded and engines have fired for the 25-lap Sportsman division feature.

8:10

Pre-Race Ceremonies are now underway on the front straightaway here at Five Flags Speedway.

8:07

The Five Flags Speedway “Parade of Aid” is now on track.

8:00

The Sportsman division feature will roll off first tonight and they are now rolling to the frontstretch for pre-race ceremonies and their driver introductions.

7:50

The Treats ‘n Trophies Kid’s Bike Race will roll off as the second feature tonight.  The fun thing about this event is that every racer who takes to the track will get a trophy and free ice cream!

7:46

Yes, it does appear they won’t be making it to Five Flags tonight but there is definitely still hope for tomorrow night at South Alabama Speedway should they be planning to do so.

One of the most anticipated Outlaw Super Late Model events this Summer is coming to Kalamazoo Speedway on Saturday, July 14th.  It’s the Hoosier Hustle, a $2,000-to-win event at the ‘Zoo that will be one of the major preliminary events leading up to the Kalamazoo Klash XX on Wednesday, August 15th.

12-time Kalamazoo Speedway Track Champion And y Bozell held off his son Phil in last year’s Hoosier Hustle event.  This year, the father-and-son duo will have their hands full with a hungry pack of Outlaw stars ready to take the $2,000 winner’s prize away from them.

Joining the Outlaw Super Late Models on July 14th will be the winged warriors of the Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series.  It’s a show you will not want to miss.

For more information on the July 14th Hoosier Hustle, visit www.kalamazoospeedway.com.  Speed51.com will be the Official News Site of the Kalamazoo Klash in August.

105 degrees in Atlanta feels like a 110

We are moments away from the drop of the green flag on the first Pro Late Model practice session of the afternoon.

Although the thermometer says it is only a sunny 86 degrees here at Five Flags Speedway this afternoon, it feels like a very humid 97 degrees beneath this hot Florida sun.  And track officials are making every extra effort possible to keep drivers hydrated and cool for tonight’s feature events.

Track owner and promoter Tim Bryant closed the driver’s meeting with a moment of silence for a member of the Five Flags Speedway family, Terry Watson, who passed away earlier this afternoon after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Our thoughts and prayers here at Speed51.com are with his family.

There will be no free pass to the first car a lap down within the final ten laps of the event tonight.
