Many people have been asking about our Red Eye 100 winner Stephen Nasse. He was not planning on being here for this show, but he was for Speedweeks. Since then, Nasse broke his ankle and was told he could not race for several weeks. The team has confirmed with Speed51.com that they will be here on Friday in an effort to get him comfortable in the car. If the pain is not too bad then he will run Speedweeks here at New Smyrna.

Will they be running the SLM feature first?

6:43
The shower has stopped and we have cars on the track. We have a lane and a half dry on the racing surface, but we still need a few more minutes to make this half-mile race ready.
6:26
Right now another light shower has come over the speedway. Cars are still drying the track. For a 30% chance of rain the weather man really blew it on this call.

Do you Know Tim Russell? Well if you have been to Florida you do. Russell has checked everything off the bucket list here at New Smyrna over the years with the exception of the Speedweeks Title and the Pete Orr Memorial. Each mean a lot, but the Orr Memorial might mean more because they were close friends to the family.

12:26
Phil if you look at the history this event it was never a part of Speedweeks for the first three years. We will still have a 100 lapper on the final night of Smyrna Speedweeks for the Super Late Models.
12:25
Comment From Phil

Who’s bright idea was it to move the Pete Orr race to today instead of during Speedweeks? This was a very stupid move.

12:25
Bubba Pollard has raced in Florida a ton, but never on the east coast. (51 Photo)
12:20
One driver who is a headliner no matter where he goes is Bubba Pollard. Over the past few years Pollard has logged over 20 wins in the southeast, but today he will try the high banks of New Smyrna for the first time. The team was pleased with the car last night in practice here at New Smyrna. Pollard’s car owner Ronnie Sanders has raced here, but you have to go way back to the 1980’s for the last trip here for Sanders.
12:15
By our count we see the potential for 24 Late Models here today. We say Late Models because some drivers here are not in Super Late Models, or so we have been told. The normal heavy hitters are here like Tim Russell, David Rogers, Justin Larson, Jeff Scofield, Anthony Sergi and others.
