Comment From Guest Thanks guys. You Rock!!

10:59

Comment From Upside Down Turtle At least this is one King that the Burt Myers gets along with (I think). There’s another “King” that doesn’t play too nice with Burt and Jason.

10:59

Comment From forward bite Once again, you guys are the best website ever for short track racing! Keep up the good work!!!!!

10:59

As King celebrates in victory lane, we’ll put a cap on the evening with more information from the PASS South race in just a second.

10:58

This is the 15th-straight Ace win for Brian King.

10:58

Brian King has won the Chick-Fil-A Modified feature here tonight at Ace. Burt Myers was second, with Randy Butner third, Gary Young, Jr., and Speedy Faucette in the top-five.

10:57

White flag for King…Myers is still a straightaway behind in second.

10:55

Eight to go for King.

10:55

King is holding court (cheesy, we know) up front.  Myers and Butner run second and third, but barring a miracle or a crash, this one’s going to King.

10:53

We’ll have a full PASS South finish at the conclusion of this Modified race.  There are 17 laps to go.

10:52

HALFWAY: Brian King is up a full straightaway already on Myers.

10:52

We’re good!  We’ll have all kinds of video recaps from all the newsmakers in the PASS South race this week on Speed51.com

10:51

Comment From Upside Down Turtle Back in time for the Mod race….wow…you guys are the best.

10:51

Lap 15 – Brian King is in the lead and is checking out over Myers and Butner.

10:50

He’s in the #77.

10:50

Comment From Guest what number is randy butner in?

10:50

Comment From Guest THX guys

10:50

Lap 12: Brian King has taken second from Myers.

10:49

Seven laps into this 40-lapper.  Burt Myers has pulled to the side of Butner for the lead into turn one, but Butner held strong.  Brian King, who started in the rear, is now all the way up to third and gaining on the leaders.

10:47

GREEN FLAG: Speedy Faucette held the lead at the start, but Randy Butner took the lead to complete lap one.Burt Myers followed to second.

10:46

We’re back up here just as the Modified fire engines.  We’ll do the best we can to provide updates.  Burt Myers will start fifth tonight.  Speedy Faucette will start on the pole.  Brian King, who set fast time, will have to start at the rear due to a track rule that basically was made for him.  He’s so good here, they make him start at the rear

10:29

We’re headed downstairs to get post-race reaction from the drivers from the Super Late Model event and we hope to be back up top in time to provide Trackside Now coverage of the Modified feature, but we can’t make any promises.  If we can make it back up top, we’ll do it…if we can’t we hope our fans understand.

10:29

Andy Loden has won the Piedmont Pride 150, going back-to-back in PASS South.  Full results and more to follow.

10:29

Jimmy Weller has taken third from Devin Jones with two to go.

10:28

Five to go: Loden is still up the same margin on Peltier.  Jones is still holding off Weller for third with Nasse in fifth.

10:26

10 to go: Loden is on cruise control up 10 carlengths on Peltier.

10:26

15 laps to go: Andy Loden is up three carlengths on Peltier.  Jones has a mirror full of Jimmy Weller for third.  Stephen Nasse has his hands full with Trey Mitchell for fifth.

10:25

You can’t change tires, but tires can be swapped from front to rear.  That’s what Fogleman’s team did.

10:25

Comment From Guest How is fogleman able to swap right side tires? I thought you couldn’t change tires unless they were down?

10:24

Battle for sixth as Brandon Ward has peeked under Trey MItchell with Jay Fogleman right behind him, but couldn’t complete the pass.  Now Fogleman has looked under Ward for seventh and has the spot on lap 133.

10:24

GREEN FLAG: Loden inches ahead of Peltier as Peltier tries to work the outside and stays even with Loden for a lap before falling back single file in second.

10:23

As Fogleman tried to pull away from the pit stall, he dragged the pit road jack with him.  He got it shook loose and has re-joined the field just as they go green.

10:23

Restart order: Andy Loden, Preston Peltier, Devin Joens, Jimmy Weller, Trey Mitchell, Stephen Nasse, Brandon Ward.

10:22

Under yellow, Jay Fogleman is back on pit road.  The crew swapped right-side tires on their last pit stop, now they’ll be swapping them back.

10:21

Steven Legendre is the free-pass recipient.

10:20

YELLOW FLAG: Lap 127 – Justin Wakefield has come to a halt on the backstretch.

10:19

Lap 125 – 25 laps to go – Loden, Peltier, Jones, Weller, Fogleman, Mitchell, Nasse, Ward

10:19

Loden is up two carlengths on Peltier up front.  Those two have uplled away by a half-straightaway on Jones, Weller, Fogleman and Mitchell who run nose-to-tail behind them.

10:18

Lap 120: Loden, Peltier, Jones, Weller, Fogleman, Mitchell, Nasse, Ward.

10:17

Side-by-side for fifth are Jay Fogleman on the bottom and Trey Mitchell up top.  Fogleman takes fifthand works now on Weller for fourth.

10:17

Give third to Jones now on lap 116.

10:17

GREEN FLAG: Andy Loden held strong on the bottom of Preston Peltier on the restart.  Jimmy Weller and Devin Jones are side-by-side for third

10:16

Fogleman is also on pit road.  PASS Officials are saying Wakefield lost a lap due to his spin.

10:15

This caution saves cars such as Stephen Nasse, Brandon Ward and Trey Mitchell from going a lap down.  Those three are all on pit road now making adjustments for the last stretch run.

10:14

Leading up to that, it appeared that Wakefield tried the high lane around Fogleman off turn four.  Fogleman jumped up high off the corner and Wakefield tried a cross-over move to the bottom into turn one.  That’s when Wakefield spun as he tried to keep the car on the bottom into turn one.

10:13

YELLOW FLAG: Lap 114 – Justin Wakefield tried to jump to the bottom of Jay Fogleman into turn one for second and Wakefield looped his #98.

10:12

Lap 110: Nasse is trying to pass Brandon Ward, but the lapped car of Kenzie Ruston rides in their way just in front of race leader Andy Loden.

10:11

Lap 108: Justin Wakefield has caught second-place Jay Fogleman.  They run nose-to-tail.

10:11

Lap 107: Andy Loden has caught the tail end of the lead lap and is about to put Stephen Nasse and Brandon Ward a lap down.

10:10

Blaney’s car sits on pit road and he is done for the night.

10:10

Comment From Guest Did Ryan Blaney come back out on the track or is he done for the night?

10:09

Lap 100: Loden leads Fogleman by eight carlengths.  Wakefield is 15 carlengths behind Fogleman in third.  Preston Peltier is about a quarter-lap behind Wakefield in fourth, with Jimmy Weller, Devin Jones, Trey Mitchell, Brandon Ward and Stephen Nasse all nose-to-tail behind them.

10:08

Lap 95 – Jody Lavender has brought his car onto pit road.

10:08

Wakefield runs a distant third as he and may of the leaders are glowing their brake rotors pretty brightly under this long green-flag run.

10:07

Andy Loden has taken the lead the hard way…on the outside of Jay Fogleman.

10:07

Lap 90: Andy Loden is peeking on the high side of Fogleman now.  They’re door-to-door to complete lap 91….give the lead to Loden by a nose!

10:05

Lap 85: Fogleman and Loden are on the same straightaway as positions five through nine on the racetrack.

10:04

Lap 80 – A little contact between the leaders as Loden nudged Fogleman.  The two continued status-quo, but Loden appears to have some fight in him at this point.

10:03

Loden continues to follow right in Fogleman’s tire tracks for the lead.  Justin Wakefield has just passed Preston Peltier for third on lap 79.  Wakefield is diggin!

10:03

HALFWAY LAP 75: Fogleman leads Loden, Peltier, Wakefield, Weller, Ward, Jones, Mitchell and Nasse.  Those appear to be the only lead-lap cars.

10:02

Lap 73 – Jody Lavender shut the door on Fogleman as he was trying to stay on the lead lap, allowing Loden to get to the rear bumper of Fogleman for the lead.  Lavender eventually heeded to the leaders.

10:01

The traffic has allowed Loden to narrow Fogleman’s advantage to about five carlengths here on lap 70.

10:00

Lap 65 – Give the fourth spot to Wakefield as he makes a move to the bottom of Jimmy Weller.

10:00

Lap 65 – Leader Jay Fogleman has caught a big wad of lapped cars and cars about to go down a lap, including Legendre, Batten, Davidson and the once top-five-running Jody Lavender.

9:59

Fogleman is up 10 carlengths on Loden, who is up 10 himself on Peltier.  Jimmy Weller follows Peltier by about five carlengths and Justin Wakefield is about eight back of Weller.

9:58

Lap 55 – Ryan Blaney has come to pit road under green.  The crew is taking the hood off and will be checking the front suspension. As he hit pit road, Kenzie Ruston’s team sent her back out on the track several laps down.

9:57

Fogleman has put Ryan BLaney a lap down on lap 54.  The parking on Blaney’s car has dissipated, but so has his speed.

9:56

Steven Legendre is giving the lead-lap cars handfuls on the bottom side.  Brandon Ward and Devin Jones just both had to fight hard to get by the lapped #20 machine.

9:55

Lap 50 – Fogleman, Loden, Peltier, Weller, Wakefield, Ward, Jones, Mitchell, Nasse, Lavender, Davidson, Blaney.  Those are the only lead lap cars.

9:54

Justin Wakefield is in a hurry to get to the front.  He just moved to fifth by Brandon Ward and is reeling in Jimmy Weller for fourth.

9:54

Ryan Blaney’s #10 car continues to spark like an Independence Day sparkler and has slowed the pace up a bit and is within a quarter-lap of going down a lap.

9:53

Jay Fogleman just had to nudge his teammate Steven Legendre out of the way as he went by putting Legendre a lap down.  Fogleman also has lapped John Batten and sets his sights on Grant Davidson.

9:52

Best battle on the track is for seventh as Just Wakefield has nudged Stephen Nasse from the seventh spot.

9:52

Kenzie Ruston’s team actually appears to have a rear end problem, as the tail end of the #39 is up in the air on jacks on pit road.

9:51

Lap 31 and Jimmy Weller has moved by Brandon Ward for fifth.  Justin Wakefield is looking to move around Stephen Nasse for seventh.

9:50

Fogleman has opened up a three-carlength advantage over Loden, who has the same gap back to Peltier.  Lavender is starting to reel in Peltier for the third spot.

9:50

Blaney’s car has continued to spark in every corner and on both straightaways, but he’s still maintaining speed here on lap 30.

9:49

Jay Fogleman has worked under Loden and has taken the lead off turn four to complete lap 26.

9:49

Lap 25: Loden, Fogleman, Peltier, Lavender, Ward, Weller, Nasse, Wakefield, Jones, Mitchell, Blaney.

9:49

Fogleman has peeked underneat Loden to complete lap 23.  He can’t make it stick.  Peltier rides in third about five carlengths behind the two leaders.

9:48

Kenzie Ruston has a problem, tried to slow out of the way and doored Ryan Blaney off turn four as she slowed.  Blaney continued on but it appears that Ruston has a flat tire on her #39

9:47

Ryan Blaney’s #10 is shooting off sparks from the right-front corner.  No black flag and no yellow yet.

9:47

Side-by-side still for the lead.  Fogleman on the inside, Loden on the outside.  Now Loden pulls ahead a bit on the outsdie on lap 16 and leads at the stripe.

9:46

GREEN FLAG: Fogleman leads the field into one, but Loden again runs side-by-side off turn two.  Give Fogleman the advantage by a half-carlength into one.

9:45

Running order under caution: Fogleman, Loden, Peltier, Ward, Nasse, Lavender, Weller, Ruston, Blaney, Wakefield, Jones, Legendre, Mitchell, Davidson.  Those are the only cars on the racetrack at this time.

9:44

We sure hope so.  PASS has sanctioned an open test session at North Wilkesboro tomorrow afternoon in preparation for the series’ event there later this Summer.

9:44

Comment From Race Chaser Will there be any cars left for the open test at North Wilkesboro tomorrow?

9:42

Heath is okay.  He and his crew are assessing the damage to the #91, but it appears to be extensively damaged.  Hindman’s done for the night, for sure, as he’s already changed into a t-shirt and jeans.

9:42

Comment From Guest how is heath hindmans car and is he ok

9:41

On pit road under yellow: Legendre, John Batten and Davidson.

9:40

YELLOW FLAG Lap 14 – Tim Nooner hit the inside wall.  Grant Davidson and Steven Legendre also got a piece of the incident.Devin Jones is the free-pass recipient.

9:39

GREEN FLAG: Fogelman again got a strong start, but Loden hung tough on the outside.

9:39

The only car on the track that is down a lap is the #35 of Devin Jones, who lost his lap coming out of the pits when the field went green.

9:38

The field is doubled up and we’ll be going green in one lap.

9:38

He’s back on the track at the tail of the field.  The front end is a little dinged up, but nothing too severe it appears.

9:38

Comment From RACING FAN How is Wakefield’s car??

9:36

Davidson is on pit road with damage to the nose of his #00.  Pinion has emerged from his racecar and appears to be okay.

9:35

YELLOW FLAG: Lap 13 – Tim Pinion was turned by Grant Davidson on the backstretch.  Pinion slammed the outside wall head-first and has extensive damage to the #42.

9:35

GREEN FLAG: Fogelman got a great start on the inside groove to clear Loden for the lead

9:34

Comment From jimmy dru thanks for the coverage ,it”s great to sit here and know whats going on.

9:34

Comment From RACING FAN Sounds like a crazy night,

9:34

One lap to green: Jay Fogelman on the inside, Andy Loden on the outside make up the front row on the restart.

9:33

Devin Jones’ #35 required a push back to the pit area as the field doubles up to go back to green.

9:33

Trey Mitchell has pitted and returned to the track.

9:32

Running order under yellow on lap 12: Jay Fogelman, Andy Loden, Preston Peltier, Brandon Ward, Stephen Nasse, Jody Lavender, Jimmy Weller, Kenzie Ruston, Tim Pinion, Tim Nooner, John Batten, Steven Legendre, Ryan Blaney.  All other cars are on pit road or on the hook from the most recent caution.

9:30

Justin Wakefield got a piece of that as well.  He’s on pit road and the crew is working on the nose.  A good amount of steam is coming from under Wakefield’s hood, indicating a possible radiator break on the #98.Ryan Blaney’s team is working on the #10 on pit road as well.  Duct tape is being applied to the hood.

9:29

Pinion has pulled away, as has Blaney, Legendre (who was involved as well).  Hindman , Mitchell and Jones remain in turns one and two against the fence.

9:28

YELLOW FLAG: Lap 11 – Trey Mitchell and Preston Peltier tangled between turns one and two.  Mitchell hit the inside wall.  Also involved: Ryan Blaney, Heath Hindman, Tim Pinion and Devin Jones.  Heath Hindman took the biggest hit into the outside wall.  He’s okay.

9:27

Give Loden the second spot on lap 10 as Trey Mitchell now looks under Peltier for third.

9:27

Lap 8 – Andy Loden jumped to the bottom of Preston Peltier.  Peltier tried chopping him down into turn three, but they remain side-by-side for a full lap.

9:26

With just one lap in since the restart, Fogelman has a 10-carlength lead over Peltier.  Loden runs third with Mitchell, Ward and Nasse behind them.

9:25

GREEN FLAG: Jay Fogelman has gotten the jump on Peltier as the green flag flew to take the lead.

9:25

One lap to green.

9:25

Under yellow, Michael Gaier’s #75 hit pit road and the crew has put the car up on jack stands.  It’s Gaier’s first-ever PASS South race, so perhaps the remainder of the event will be a test session for that team.

9:24

The track crew says that the racing surface is clear and the field is doubled up.  We’ll go green in about two laps.

9:21

YELLOW FLAG is back out.  The cars will run through the oil-dry for a few laps before we go back to green.

9:20

Still under RED….

9:17

We’re still under a RED FLAG here on lap five at Ace.  A track wrecker has attached a giant tire to its hook and is now dragging it through the oil-dry.

9:17

Comment From MAMA JUDY GO JUSTIN

9:16

Comment From Lil Al Sounds like it’s been an interesting night there with a stray dog and now mops and brooms cleaning the track.

9:14

Tissot’s #88 machine dropped a ton of fluids all down the frontstretch.  The track crew is working hard to get it all cleaned up, but it’s just a few guys with mops and brooms…old school clean-up techniques here at Ace.

9:14

Comment From Ben Come on get this mess cleaned up!!!

9:13

Thanks for checking in, Jim & Denise.  The DuPonts will be covering the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event for TheChromeHorn.com on Sunday from Martinsville.  Speed51.com will be live with Trackside Now coverage on Sunday for the WMT event and the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event from Historic Martinsville Speedway.

9:13

Comment From Jim& Denise We are here in Eden at the hotel for this weekends Martinsville event. Wish we knew you were there.

9:11

The red flag is out for an extensive cleanup of fluids dropped in turn four and all down the frontstretch.

9:10

Grant Davidson’s car is on pit road and the team is looking at the left-front suspension of his #00.  Tim Nooner is also in the pits with nose damage from the turn-four fracas.

9:09

Running order: Preston Peltier, Jay Fogelman, Andy Loden, Trey Mitchell, Brandon Ward, Stephen Nasse, Ryan Blaney, Jody Lavender, Justin Wakefield, Jimmy Weller and Heath Hindman.

9:08

Lee Tissot also saw an extensive amount of damage in the carnage in turn four, as well.  He’ll need a hook to get back to the pits.

9:08

Caution laps do not count in PASS South.

9:07

Comment From Chaos:) Ditto to Guest’s comment. Go Jody Lavender!!!

9:07

Comment From Rita Giusso GO HEATH!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR FAMILY AT HOME

9:07

YELLOW FLAG: Lap 5 – Michael Gaier spun in turn four and Dana White slammed the outside wall hard trying to avoid it.  Also spinning to avoid was Kenzie Ruston, who did not appear to hit anything.

9:06

Three wide off turn four to complete lap one:  Mitchell on the outside, Brandon Ward in the middle and Brandon Ward on the bottom.  All made it to turn one unscathed.

9:05

GREEN FLAG: Preston Peltier had edged out ahead of Mitchell, who ran way up the track into turn one and two.

9:05

One lap to green.  Preston Peltier and Trey Mitchell will lead the field to the green flag waved by PASS South flagman Randy Smith.

9:03

The field is doubled-up…we’re going green in two laps here at Ace.

9:03

9:01

We had a slight delay after driver intros before engines fired as a stray dog made its way onto the frontstretch.  The dog, with the assistance of a handful of track officials, has been returned to safety on the grandstand side of the fence and the PASS South field is running hot laps just before we go green.

Engines have fired for the Super Late Models.  They’ll be moving to the fronstretch for in-car driver intros for the good crowd here at Ace Speedway tonight.

8:49

After the five-car invert of the Chick-Fil-A Modifieds, Burt Myers will start from the pole in that feature later tonight. But first, it’s time for the Piedmont Pride 150 here at Ace Speedway.

8:49

Comment From Ben Where’s Burt starting?

8:43

Tate Fogelman has won the Bandolero feature.  Cole Timm finished second with Blake Spears third.  Check out LegendsNation.com for more on the Legends and Bandolero features from Ace throughout the coming days.

8:42

Probably not, honestly, but we’re more than a half-hour deep in a 15-lap race, so that is a little baffling to be honest.

8:41

Comment From Roger Five bucks says the PASS race takes less time than the Bandolero race.

8:37

There’s three laps to go and we’re under caution…Tate Fogelman leads Cole Timm under yellow.

8:23

The 15-lap Bandolero feature is green.  Tate Fogelman leads at the start, but a two-car crash involving Jon Meeks and a few others brought the yellow out for the first time.

8:21

A Friday night race has allowed several short trackers to check out tonight’s event from the grandstand.  We’ve seen PASS South regular Bradley McCaskill here tonight.  McCaskill injured himself several weeks ago in a non-racing accident and hopes to be back behind the wheel of his Grafix Unlimited #18 on the PASS South tour later this Summer.  UARA Rookie of the Year contender Clint King is here as well enjoying the race from the grandstands.  As is Hickory Motor Speedway/Orange County Speedway Limited Late Model regular Matt Daley.

8:11

Bandoleros are up next.

8:11

Comment From Guest Good job Duke and Elgin …..DW

8:10

Bayley Currey has won the 25-lap Legends Car feature.  Jason “Stix” Buckley from LegendsNation.com is here and will have all the latest news and results from this event and more throughout the weekend and next week.

8:08

Lap 19 – Brandon McKenzie just passed Mason Hudson for second, but Bayley Currey is a half-track ahead of them both in the lead.

8:05

Six laps into the Legends feature, Bayley Currey led Daniel Hemric by about a straightaway, but Hemric slowed in turn two and took his #21 to pit road and out of the event.

8:03

Speed51.com’s partner site LegendsNation.com, the most reputable source for Legends and Bandoloro news, will have full coverage of tonight’s Legends and Bandolero features next week.

8:02

Hemric finished second in his first-ever PASS South Super Late Model feature at Orange County Speedway earlier this year, but here tonight and at Wake County (NC) a few weeks back, he’s been behind the wheel of a Legends Car instead of a Super Late Model when PASS has been at the track.  Hemric won the Legends feature at Wake.

8:01

Bayley Currey and Daniel Hemric will lead the field to the green in the Legends Car feature.

7:58

Next up will be the 25-lap Legends Car feature.

7:57

The Bandolero heat has seen the checkered flag.  Tate Fogelman won the heat, followed by Cole Timms.

7:54

We’re at lap two of this five-lap Bandolero heat race and we’re three caution flags deep.

7:50

Comment From Bigbill It would be great to have the #10 cars WIN tonight. Blaney & Myers.

7:50

Racing action has begun here at Ace Speedway.  The Bandolero heat race is on track.  Tate Fogelman, son of PASS South driver Jay Fogelman, is the leader early in this brief heat.

7:16

Comment From Speed 51 fan I think Heath Hindman is the dark horse tonight good luck to all

7:16

With a good half hour before we get things kicked off here at Ace, we’re going to take a dinner break.  We’ll be back in just a few minutes.

6:05

5:58

The PASS South Super Late Models are making their move to the qualifying grid as the Modifieds get fired up for their final practice session.

5:51

We have a few more rounds of practice for the Bandoleros, Modifieds and Xtreme divisions before we start PASS South qualifying.

5:48

We count 11 “Xtreme” cars, which is basically a four-cylinder/U-Car/Mini Stock type racecar, and they are currently on track for practice.

5:38

He’s here and there appears to be a transponder issue with his car…he was definitely out on the track in the most recent session.

5:38

Comment From Wayne Is Tim Nooner racing? I don,t see any pratice times.

5:36

The track’s weekly Modified division, called the “Chick-Fil-A Modifieds,” are currently on the track.  There are 10 cars that we’ve counted on the track so far.  These Modifieds are similar to a Northeastern SK Modified with narrower tires.

We’ve hit a 15-minute break to clear gates to allow more Modifieds across the track.  Next cars to hit the track will be the Super Late Models for their final 10-minute “Scuff Session” practice session.

5:03

The Bandoleros are on track right now…we spot about a dozen or so Bandos here tonight.

FOURTH PASS SOUTH PRACTICE SESSION

1 Jay Fogelman 15.157
2 Jimmy Weller 15.182
3 Justin Wakefield 15.244
4 Trey Mitchell 15.273

12 Stephen Nasse 15.664
13 Kenzie Ruston 15.812
14 John Batten 15.813
15 Grant Davidson 15.835
16 Jody Lavender 16.046

4:41

Just had our first caution of the fourth practice session…Kenzie Ruston spun out of turn two.  She got the #39 car righted and has continued on.

4:38

As a follow-up to the contact that caused the damage to Jones’ car last weekend at Concord, Preston Peltier, who was involved in the crash with Jones, called Jones earlier this week to apologize for the contact.  Some heated words were exchanged between Jones’ and Peltier’s camps last week after the race, but tensions appear to be squashed for the time being.

4:34

The Super Late Models are back on track for their fourth practice session.

4:34

PHOTO: Clay Jones’ #15 here at Ace. (51 Sports Photo)

4:34

4:33

Less than a week after completely destroying his #15 Car at Concord, Clay Jones is back here at Ace Speedway, but not in the #15 he crashed last Saturday in the “Old Glory 150.”  The original #15 is “completely junk” according to Clay’s dad John.  So, in order to maintain a solid points position in PASS South, the Jones’ hooked up with Wake County Speedway (NC) Super Late Model regular Joe Heigl and borrowed a well-used car to start-and-park here tonight.

4:28

Comment From Duane The modified race ought to be killa tonight as well. Some stout competition going to be in that field.

4:28

“Stat Boy” does it again…according to Speed51.com’s Elgin Traylor, should we get a first-time winner here tonight in the Super Late Model feature, it will be the 50th different winner all-time in the PASS Super Late Model tours.

4:26

The Ace Speedway Modifieds are pulling into the track now to join the Super Late Models, Bandoleros and Legends Cars that have already been on track.  We’ve seen about a half dozen Modifieds pull in so far.

4:22

4:22

4:21

Grant Davidson’s Super Late Model paint scheme may look fairly plain to some fans, but racefans familiar with the nostalgia of the sport certainly recognize a plain white car with a red #00 on the doors…throw in the sponsor “Thomas Brothers Country Ham” and old-school fans certainly recognize the paint scheme as that of the legendary Sam Ard.  Normally Davidson’s #00 has been at PASS South events without a sponsor, but now with the Thomas Bros. on the tailpiece, the Ard tribute is complete.

4:05

THIRD PASS SOUTH PRACTICE SESSION

1 Preston Peltier 15.232
2 Jody Lavender 15.24

The second practice is in the books and Jay Fogleman had the past time with a 15.399 followed by Ryan Blaney at 15.414. Full practice rundown is coming shortly.

3:25

We are yellow again as the 7 car of Dana White went around off turn two. Track is clean and we are going back to green.

3:22

We are caution again for some debris on the backstretch. It has been removed and we are back under green.

3:20

The 75 car of Michael Gaier just spun here on off turn four. He didn’t hit anything and kept on going. We are back under green.

3:07

The weather is easy to describe…HOT!  It’s pushing 90-degrees right now with the humidity level just about pegged, so the boys and girls down in the pit area are sweating their rear ends off.  Other than that, there’s a slight chance of thunderstorms this evening, but as we often say, that’s just part of Summertime in the South.  We should have a great night for racing.

3:07

Comment From Plummerbuilt Whats the weather like?

3:05

The Legends Cars are on track for their first practice session now, followed by another PASS South round in about 10 minutes.

Ace Speedway is a 4/10-mile paved oval with 12 degree banking in the corners, located in Alamance County, North Carolina, just off Hwy 87N above Elon University. Ace, formerly known as Southern Speedway, is located in Altamahaw.  It was constructed in 1956 by Roy Maddren, and operated as a 1/3-mile dirt track until 1984 when it was expanded to 3/8-mile.In 1990, the track was paved under the ownership of Fred and Jim Turner and became a NASCAR sanctioned Winston Racing Series member track.  In 1999, David Morton became sole owner of Ace and instituted an expansion and renovation project – the biggest change in the track’s history. The track was enlarged to 4/10-mile, the turns were banked to 12 degrees, and the pits were extended. New bleacher boards were also added for the comfort and safety of the fans.

In August of 2006, Abraham Woidislawsky, a former car mechanic turned real estate developer, puchased the track that will hold its first-ever PASS South event tonight.
