Mike Rowe is running the number 30 Late Model for Dave Moody this weekend. When we asked him about it, he said, “Some guy named Dave Dion did pretty well running an orange car so I will see what I can do.” Rowe will also be at Beech Ridge in a few weeks for the first north show of the season.

3:43
The driver’s meeting was pretty standard stuff, but an outline for the 2012 Running of “The Race” was mentioned to the drivers. There is a 60%, according to Tom Mayberry, that it will return to North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC). He also stated that there is a 95% that it will happen. He also planned that the field would be set up on time trial for 40 straight up and then provisional’s for those who run all PASS North or South events from the previous season. The purse would be $50,000 to win and $1,500 to start with live pit stops. He also mentioned big lap money with $100 dollars going to the driver who leads each lap and potential $10,000 bonus to a PASS qualifying drivers. Most of this is still in the preliminarily stages, but it looks like we will see “The Race” return in 2012.

The PASS South Super Late Models are up next for Practice. We will be right back.
11:57
We are a few minutes from the track being hot for the first time today. We will be going to take some photos at that point during practice.
11:56
Dylan Kwasniewski is a 15-year-old driver out of the west who is making his second start with PASS this weekend. He ran really well at Anderson Motor Speedway (SC) a few weeks back before taking fifth. Just last week he ran his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at All American Speedway and came home fourth. That ties Chase Elliott for the best finish by a 15-year-old in the Pro Series. Kwasniewski will run again for Richie Wauters and in a few weeks at South Boston.

Preston Peltier won the Easter Bunny 150 here last year at Hickory. (51 Photo)
11:11
The Easter Bunny 150 has quickly become one of the biggest events on the PASS South schedule as several north teams make the trip to try at win at Hickory, “America’s Most Famous Short Track”. In six years we have not had a driver win more then once in this event. Mike Rowe, Ryan Lawler, Corey Williams, Ben Rowe and Preston Peltier are the past winners.
11:06
We have well over 30 Super Late Models here today for the Easter Bunny 150 at the Hickory Motor Speedway. PASS is looking at a 28 car field or more:

Cars will qualify for the feature event, the top 20 through time trials, the last 6 through a “Last Chance Race”. There will be 2 provisionals based on South points. There will be 1 provisional from the North based on highest points from 2010 season, if needed. The promoters reserve the right to add additional starting positions.

Good morning and welcome to the Easter Bunny 150 here at the Hickory Motor Speedway (NC). Today’s activities will be very busy as we had practice practically washed out last night with rain in the North Carolina area. Today the radar is good and we expect the sun to brighten the afternoon with temps near the 80’s for this the first PASS National race of the 2011 season.
