It is still raining hard here at Lee and a decision hasn’t been made on what to do. So we are going to call it a night here and get ready for the Beech Ridge PASS race and the Oxford 250 this coming weekend. Thank you for tuning in and good night.

Comment From Rickaa

Well I was off buy 20 mins. So SORRY!!!!

9:08
Comment From Emery

I’m pulling for the 35X of Kris Watson and the 7 of Shane Tatro

9:08
We have now learned that Travis Benjamin was scored as two laps down in the PASS North race. We assume it is due to a two-lap penalty for drawing a caution as that is not tolerated typically in PASS.
9:06
It has now started to rain.
9:06
Comment From Rickaa

Whats the hold up.

9:05
The Sportsman cars have been stopped in the infield.
9:05
There is a report of moisture on the track. It is very humid, but I haven’t observed any rain.
9:04
After this, the NELCAR Legends will race their feature event – weather permitting.
9:04
There is no sign of this race advancing from pace laps to a feature anytime soon.
9:03
Yes, Grant Athier will start third. If I spelled his name wrong, my apologies.

Comment From al

Nice job Twisty

9:02
The Sportsman race is set to run 75 laps.
9:01
Actually, there are two #60s in the Sportsman field. A white one (Driver unknown) is starting in the third row. The Sally Bolduc-owned car is starting towards the back.
9:00
I’m not alone either. The official PASS announcer, Marco Thomas, just referred to a driver as “Matt something in the #4 car.”
9:00
I do not have a lineup for this race, so I’m a little limited in how I can call it.
8:59

8:57
Podium interviews are trying to be done from the infield among the rumble of racecars on the track. It’s not working out so well.
8:57
The announcement has been made that the NELCAR Legends will race next, but those cars are not on the track.
8:57
The Sportsman cars are on the track.
8:56
The top finishers have been impounded in the infield for tech. There is no crossover tunnel or bridge here at Lee, so the drivers are trapped in the infield.
8:56
Victory lane has been postponed to try and get the PASS Sportsman on the track.

8:54
Beyond that, it is anyone’s guess. I will try to have results from the PASS officials before signing off tonight though.
8:54
Unofficially, Kelly Moore and Donnie Whitten appeared to be the first cars one lap down.
8:54
Johnny Clark finished second ahead of Ben Rowe, DJ Shaw, Richie Dearborn, Gary Smith, Trevor Sanborn and Travis Benjamin. Those are the cars that were on the lead lap – assuming that Benjamin was not penalized a lap. (See below).
8:53
Mike Rowe wins.
8:52
Travis Benjamin is very much off the pace.
8:52
Two laps to go.
8:52
Those are your lead lap cars.
8:52
Travis Benjamin is running slower and appears to be in eighth.
8:51
Gary Smith has dropped back to seventh.

Richie Dearborn is up to fifth.
8:51

The Old Man just caught up

8:49
Because there is a lot of cross-over between some of the drivers in this field and the Oxford 250. There is no Late Model vs. Super Late Model favortism here. Short track racing is short track racing.
8:48
Comment From Guest

The PASS race at the Ridge is on Sat. Why are we talking about Oxford when we are trying to watch the PASS race?

8:48
Comment From Matt

Clark and Rowe have a history of getting rough with each other when the race is on the line. My get says the master will win……that being the #2.

8:48
Excepting the lucky dog, who should be Trevor Sanborn, those are the only cars on the lead lap.
8:48
Johnny Clark will lead Mike Rowe, Ben Rowe, Gary Smith, DJ Shaw and Richie Dearborn on the restart.

Mike Rowe has fallen back. He is a straightaway away from being lapped next.
7:55
Randy Turner has been lapped.
7:55
Rich Eaton has been lapped.

7:54
We are at lap 36.
7:54
Kelly Moore is still leading.
7:54
Gary Smith is now up to second.
7:54
Just outside the top 10 are Ben Rowe, Gary Drew, Adam Bates, Matt Frahm, Donnie Whitten, Cassisu Clark and Nick Ribbe.
7:53
Scott Dragon is looking under Richie Dearborn in a battle for ninth.
7:53
Rich Eaton is running outside the top 20, but is still on the lead lap. His #4E is very sideways and loose though.
7:52
Scott Dragon rounds out the top ten.
7:52
Richie Dearborn is currently ninth.
7:52
Trevor Sanborn is up to seventh with teammate Travis Benjamin behind him.
7:52
Johnny Clark is now up to sixth after starting outside the top 10.
7:52
There is quite a bit of distance back to fifth place D.J. Shaw.
7:51
We are currently working lap 25.
7:51
Scott Chubbuck and Gary Smith have now closed in on the lead pack of Kelly Moore and Derek Ramstrom.
7:51
Comment From Mike Harnish

That would be a great person to see win gary smith.. he has paid his dues

7:50
We plan on having a photo gallery later this week. I’ve decided to try and let you know what is going on during the race instead of retiring to the infield to take photos. Can’t always have your cake and eat it too.
7:50
Comment From Jesse

are they gonna post pics tonite of any cars

7:50
I’m unbiased, but that would be one heck of a story. The Smiths are good people who work very hard with a limited budget.
7:49
Comment From Matt

Gary Smith. There’s a guy I’d LOVE to see win one of these things.

7:49
Johnny Clark is now looking under Travis Benjamin for the seventh position.
7:49
Richie Dearborn is currently sixth with Travis Benjamin and Johnny Clark in his mirror.
7:48
DJ Shaw runs fifth.
7:48
Gary Smith is settling nicely into the fourth position.
7:48
Yes, he did – the #10 Super Late Model that Scott Dragon is in that is.
7:48
Comment From Matt

Steve Knowlton drove it in season’s past.

7:47
Derek Ramstrom is up to second while Scott Chubbuck has slipped back to third.
7:47
Kelly Moore is now in the lead.
7:47
It is the #10 Ciotti Racing Products car out of the Rochester, New Hampshire area. I believe that Mark Willoughby owns it, but don’t take that as gospel.
7:46
Comment From seekonkfan

surprised to see Scott Dragon tonite, any body know any thig about the car ?

7:46
Correct. Scott Dragon is in the #10 tonight and I typed in wrong. I had his Late Model ride, that has the same paint scheme on it, on my brain apparently.
7:45
Comment From Matt

Who is Scott Dragon driving for? He had been in the #10 car.

7:45
D.J. Shaw is in his regular JLM Precision #60 ride.
7:45
Comment From Jesse

what car is dj shaw piloting tonite

7:45
The green flag is out and Scott Chubbuck leads.
7:44
Brad Leighton is not here in a car tonight. He was entered in the Richard Moody Racing #55, but that entry was withdrawn.
7:44
Yes he does. Vanasse is a good little racer who could have actually chased both the Late Model and Pro Stock titles at Seekonk last year, but focused on the Late Model crown after early success in that division. We’d like to see him race more often on a tour.
7:43
Comment From seekonkfan

Ryan Vanasse, also races a prostock weekly in addition to a late model at Seekonk, all though this is not his car tonite, its the same one he raced last year at Seekonk’s pass race.

7:43
Sorry, it took an extra minute because the announced lineup wasn’t quite what showed on the track.

caution laps dont count

7:37
PASS typically does not count caution laps.
7:36
Comment From don ballard

cautions count race?

7:36
Johnny Clark has gone on record as saying that he enjoys Super Late Models more than crate engined cars, so I don’t think you’ll see him build a Late Model. But I’m sure he’d run one if it was offered to him. Clark has raced an ACT Late Model event before in the Dana Sullivan-owned #0no Late Model before.
7:35
Comment From Matt

I wish Johnny Clark would build a late model for select ACT events and the 250. I’d love to see Johnny Clark get an Oxford 250 on his resume and get an invite to NHMS.

7:35
As we told you earlier (scroll down to read about it), Trevor Sanborn is running a #44 entry for Richard Moody Racing that came to the track in the RMR hauler and is being crew by RMR crew members. It is his own Beech Ridge car though that is being “borrowed” by the RMR team. We don’t want to speculate as to the arrangements between teams and drivers, but we would guess that it was what they felt was the best available car to run tonight’s race in. Keep in mind, the PASS North Series has two more races in the next 10 days – at Beech Ridge and Thompson – so some moving around cars is to be expected.
7:33
Comment From noogin

why is trevor not in the 44 of rmr

7:33
Comment From Guest

qwhat happened with rmr and trevor. hes noy in the 44

7:32
The American and Canadian National anthems have been sung and the PASS North race is coming up next.
7:29
Earlier, we told you that Wayne Helliwell, Jr. withdrew his entry for tonight’s race. Here is the story of why that happened. Helliwell currently has one racecar that he runs a lot. It is an ACT-spec Late Model that he is defending his track championship at Lee with. He plans to convert it to a Pro Stock (Super Late Model) for tonight’s race and then convert it back for the Friday night feature at Lee and this weekend’s TD Bank 250 at Oxford. That’s a lot of work! With a questionable weather forecast last night, Helliwell decided to not convert the car and waste that labor in case the event was postponed. He is here tonight with his family instead as a fan and we’ll be seeing him race at Lee and Oxford later this week.
7:27
It is very humid here tonight, even though temps are in the lower 80s. After the 15-lap heat races, several drivers were sweating heavily when they got out of their cars. 200 laps could be a bit of a physical challenge for some guys tonight.
7:26
Ryan Vanasse is making his first PASS North start of the season tonight. He is a former regular on the ACT Late Model Tour and was the 2009 Late Model champion at Seekonk Speedway (MA).
7:24
The pit boxes are headed to the infield in preparation for the PASS North Super Late Model feature race.
7:24
Comment From Gary

Former outlaw racer Jimmy Rosenfield is at Lee tonight as crew chief foe the 53 and 56x modifieds

7:23
Here are your highly unofficial PASS Modified results:1. Wayne Whitten, Jr.
2. Andy Shaw
3. Scott McDaniel
4. Bill Dixon
5. Sulo Burbank
6. Jon Brill
7. Wanderson Oliveira
8. Greg Ellis
9. Alan Wilson
10. Sumner Sessions
11. Mitch Miller
7:22
Wayne Whitten, Jr. has won the PASS Modified feature.
7:21
Scott McDaniel is now up to third.
7:21
We are at lap 36 of 40 in the PASS Modified feature.
7:20
Andy Shaw is still all over the rear bumper of PASS Modified race leader Wayne Whitten, Jr.
7:20
A few did through the years – Derek Ramstrom got his start in the outlaws for example. Several former Outlaw drivers like the Colbys and Jay Sands now race weekly in the Pro Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.
7:19
Comment From seekonkfan

pass outlaws had some decent turnouts, depending on the tracks, but I think Tom was hoping some would move up to pass SLM

7:19
The car owner on Andy Shaw’s Modified, Dave Weir, is also the spotter for DJ Shaw in the PASS North and NASCAR K&N Pro Series East ranks.
7:18
We are at lap 30 of 40 in the PASS Modified feature.
7:18
Andy Shaw is now trying the outside of leader Wayne Whitten, Jr.
7:18
Billy Dixon is a distant third with Scott McDaniel and Sulo Burbank, who recovered from an earlier spin, is in fifth.
7:18
Andy Shaw is closing in on leader Wayne Whitten, Jr.
7:17
Andy Shaw is now up to second at lap 25 of the PASS Modified feature.
7:17
Wayne Whitten, Jr., who has plenty of Late Model Sportsman experience here at Lee, is now leading the PASS Modified race.
7:16
Here’s a little bit of a weather update. According to a Weather Channel model, it looks like the rain will hold off around Lee until around 11pm tonight. As long as things stay according to schedule, that would be after all feature races are run. The key tonight is that the forecast doesn’t change and that we don’t see much yellow or red from the flagstand.
7:13
Andy Shaw is now up to third in the PASS Modified feature.
7:13
Comment From Matt

Hope to see y back on the track soon Mike Harnish and in good health.

7:13
Comment From Mike Harnish

The outlaw series was a great series for my team.. i could afford to run the series out of my pocket.. it would take some good sponsers or a great car owner for me to be able to get back involved… remember matt the outlaws paid 1500 to win and the mods are only 500.. big purse difference for tom to have to pay for the same amount of cars

7:13
Jon Brill has had a flat tire and dropped out of contention in the PASS Modified feature.
7:13
Sulo Burbank has spun to bring out the caution in the PASS Modified race at lap 17.
7:12
The PASS Modifieds are on track right now for their feature race. At the 15-lap mark, we are under caution with 25 laps to go. Richie Ferreira currently leads over Jon Brill, Wayne Whitten, Wanderson Oliviera, Scott McDaniel and Andy Shaw.
7:10
In the PASS North Super Late Model heat races, there weren’t any spins or wrecks, but there were a few bumps and bruises out there. Gary Drew got very sideways by himself at one point in his #71, but saved it and finished fourth. In another heat race, JR Baril and Trevor Sanborn exchanged a little bit of paint battling for position. It looks like Cassius Clark and Ryan Vanasse made some contact with each other as well.
7:07
Comment From Mike Harnish

Actually i got sick over the winter and really had to unload my car… Hopefully some day i will be able to get back involved

7:06
By the way, Beech Ridge on Saturday is a 150-lap show that will pay $3,000. The entry blanks for all of the races are online at the PASS website, which can be linked to from the front page of Speed51.com
7:05
Comment From Matt

I really miss the PASS Outlaw series. I think if PASS was gonna nix a series that isn’t growing the way it was slated, it would be the PASS Mods. There are simply not enough of these to make for an entertaining event week in and week out.

7:05
Comment From Mike Harnish

I am retired! and loving it..

7:05
Tonight’s race pays $4,000 to win – which is slightly higher due to being 200 laps in length.
7:05
Comment From oliver coolidge

what does it pay to win?

7:02
Comment From Guest

Mr. Harnish? We haven’t seen you on the track this season. Where ya been?

7:02
Comment From Mike Harnish

The banks at unity are brutal trust me i have hit them a time or two!

7:02
Also in the RMR pits tonight in the #44 entry for Trevor Sanborn. This week though, Sanborn is running his own Beech Ridge Pro Series car out of the RMR hauler with RMR crew members wrenching it.
7:01
There’s a different look in the Richard Moody Racing pits tonight. Travis Benjamin is driving the familiar yellow RMR Super Late Model, but it does have #4, #44 or #55 on the side. Instead, it wears Benjamin’s #17. Benjamin tells us that he’ll be in the car, which is crewed by both RMR crew members and some of Benjamin’s crew, for the rest of the year.
7:00
Brad Keselowski is entered along with a driver who has a Cup surname – Jeffrey Earnhardt.
7:00
Comment From Norwood Arena Fan

Are any cup drivers entered in the oxford 250

6:59
Comment From Matt

Unity, the car killer. I don’t know what would be worse for you racecar. A hit off the widow maker at Thunder Road ora road into ditches, ravines and sand piles of Unity.

6:59
Gary Modugno, who has raced everything from PASS North Super Late Models to Super Stocks, is here with the NELCAR Legends tour tonight driving the #5 car.
6:58
The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour also returns to Monadnock Speedway (NH) after a few decades away too – so there is no shortage of big shows to choose from.
6:57
Comment From Corey

With Oxford and Riverside both running 250’s it is a tough call for fans in the North East on where to go…

6:57
Comment From Mike Harnish

I would think 24 would be a easy number this saturday,, If a handful of ridge guys decided to race i would think 28 to 30

6:57
The Crete Carriers Super Late Model that Louie Mechalides drives for car owner Brad Watson was heavily damaged at Unity a few weeks ago when a radiator hose blew. I wasn’t there, but the photos of the wrecked car indicate that it likely flipped at least once or twice.
6:56
Comment From Matt

Very surprised to see Louie Michaledes is a no-show. Lee is almost in his back yard.

6:56
I think you’ll see more than two dozen cars at Beech Ridge as that track typically draws a good car count and a few Pro Series regulars from the track will enter. My prediction is 32-33.
6:55
Comment From Matt

We’ll be lucky to have 24 at Beech Ridge. I myself am a stickler for car counts. This is where ACT excels.

6:55
In the third heat race, Kelly Moore dominated the show. He won over Gary Drew, Travis Benjamin, Trevor Sanborn, Mike Rowe, JR Baril, Cassius Clark, Ryan Vanasse and Rich Eaton.
6:54
Keep your fingers crossed. There are no dark clouds out right now in any direction, but it is awfully humid and feels like thunderstorm weather out here.
6:54
Comment From Mike Harnish

weather going to hold off?

6:53
With his status as the PASS North point leader, it would be doubtful that Johnny Clark would skip the Beech Ridge race at this point.
6:52
Comment From Guest

Johnny Clark has listed on his website he planned to run the 250 but that was before the rain came to the ridge last weekend

6:52
Yup. Got a good workout too.
6:52
Comment From Rickaa

Have you caught your breath yet Twisty?

6:52
Comment From Guest

I am looking forward to Antigonish but the Beech Ridge date on Saturday isn’t going to help our car count…

6:52
In the second heat race for the PASS North Super Late Models, Scott Chubbuck led the entire way. Ben Rowe closed up on him to take second and appeared to have a quicker car, but just couldn’t get by in 15 laps. Behind Chubbuck and Rowe were Richie Dearborn, Gary Drew, Scott Dragon, Joey Doiron, Donnie Whitten and Scott Alexander.
6:50
It looks doubtful that any PASS North teams will head to Antigonish for the IWK 250 since their race that was rained out at Beech Ridge last Saturday night has been rescheduled for this Saturday night.
6:49
Comment From Guest

Have you heard of any pass cars making the trip north to Riverside for the IWK 250 this weekend?

6:48
In the first heat race, DJ Shaw led early on but Derek Ramstrom was patient and took the lead late to go on and win over Johnny Clark, Shaw, Adam Bates, Randy Turner, Matt Frahm and Nick Ribbe.
6:47
Still filing in…on a weeknight when people are getting out of work, it’s hard to tell early on. But so far, it isn’t too bad.
6:47
Comment From Butch Miller

Crowd?

6:31
Wayne Helliwell, Jr. withdrew. I’ll have more details on why shortly.
6:31
Comment From Lee fan

where is Helliwell?

6:31
Derek Ramstrom, Scott Chubbuck and Kelly Moore won the heat races. Stand by for more detail on that after I make a quick appearance on the Speed 51 Radio show – which can be heard at RaceTalkRadio.com

There are 24 PASS North Super Late Models, 25 PASS Sportsmen and 12 PASS Modifieds in the pits here tonight. The NELCAR Legends are also on hand as a support division.
5:54
Right now, it is very muggy but still dry here at Lee USA Speedway. A number of showers were in the area this afternoon, but dodged the track. The current forecast does not call for rain until later in the evening, so if things move along quick enough, the weather shouldn’t be an issue tonight.
5:51
Welcome to Lee USA Speedway, where the PASS North Super Late Models will be tonight for the running of the Bastille PASS 200.

Trackside Now: PASS – Bastille 200 – Lee USA Speedway – 7/13/10
