One of the most accomplished drivers in the history of what is now the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, Kelly Moore, is standing in victory lane tonight after his son Ryan won the Super Late Model feature.

8:35

UNOFFICIAL SUPER LATE MODEL RESULTS
1 #74 Ryan Moore
2 #12K Rebecca Kasten
3 #93 David Russell
4 #36 Tim Russell
5 #5 Jared Marks
6 #11 David Rogers
7 #18 Bruce Gowland
8 #33 Derrick Wood

10 #51 Stephen Nasse
11 #20 Anthony Sergi
12 #68 Russell Shaw
13 #29 Ronnie Rihn
14 #112 Steven Weaver
15 #89 Matt Tifft

8:34

Tim Russell looked like he might be about to bump Rebecca Kasten as they pulled onto pit road, but Kasten cut hard right at the entrance of pit road and pulled back onto the track instead.

8:33

David Russell made a strong bit on Ryan Moore, but Moore hold on for the win as Rebecca Kasten ends up second.

8:32

Rogers goes backwards with one to go.

8:32

Ryan Moore powers to the inside off two to take the lead.

8:31

GREEN FLAG: Lap 28. Rogers takes the high lane on the restart.

8:31

The track vehicles are now all over the track, so a restart should happen in a moment.

8:31

The starter is now showing one lap to go before a restart.

8:30

That attempt at a restart was called off. The lights are still off on the pace truck.

8:30

The lights are out on the pace car, but there is still a track vehicle on the track.

8:29

Bruce Gowland will restart fifth.

8:29

There are currently nine Super Late Models left on the track.

8:29

We will have a restart with two laps to go.

8:29

Thanks for the info Tyler.

8:28

Comment From Tyler

Brian Finney has a back up car

8:28

Jared Marks’ car has been push-started by a wrecker.

8:28

Jared Marks has not refired his car, but the other cars in the field are running under caution currently.

8:28

Tim Russell’s car was slow on the restart so we are not sure if it is at 100% after his spin on the prior yellow.

8:28

The cars are rolling again. We are going to be under caution for a little bit still.

8:27

We are still under red flag conditions.

8:27

The #80 of Brian Finney has been towed off the track with heavy front end damage. The car actually made contact twice with the outside retaining wall.

8:26

Brian Finney has had a tough Speedweeks and we think it just got a bit tougher as his week may be over before the 100 lapper.

8:26

Currently, as we see it, David Rogers leads Ryan Moore, David Russell, Rebecca Kasten and Jared Marks.

8:24

Ryan Moore’s #74 appeared to have been dragging something in the right rear area of his car the last time he went by the flagstand.

8:24

Right now we are under red for the clean up of Brian Finney. The driver is ok.

8:24

To recap Rebecca Kasten was the leader and was black flagged for jumping the start on the prior restart. The caution came out when Kasten spun Tim Russell and he was given his spot back.

8:22

As we came to two laps to go Ryan Moore hooked the 80 of Brian Finney and the 80 rode the wall and stopped in turn two. We are yellow with two laps to go.

8:21

David Rogers gets the lead on the start and pulls away.

8:21

Tim Russell got his spot back becasue he was spun by Becca Kasten.

8:20

One lap to green, we have 26 in the books?

8:20

We are not sure why Tim Russell is back to second he was the caution.

8:19

Top Five: Rodgers, Tim Russell, Moore, Finney and David Russell.

8:18

The Race director here at New Smyrna said that Kasten jumped the line by a half a car length and that’s why she is no longer the leader.

8:17

David Rogers is the leader and Stephen Nasse was also smoking with engine troubles under this caution.

8:17

YELLOW FLAG LAP 26: Tim Russell spins and we are under yellow.

8:16

They are door to door off turn two.  Kasten runs third but is shown by scoring as the last car on the lead lap due to her penalty.

8:15

5 to go:  David Rogers jumps to the inside off Tim Russell for the lead.

8:15

Lap 21:  Top four are once again single file.  Russell, Rogers, Kasten and Moore.  Nasse is fifth.

8:14

Kasten is now third behind Russell and Rogers. with 10 to go.

8:14

Kasten relinquishes the lead to Russell, Rogers also follows by Kasten.

8:14

Becca Kasten is getting black flagged for jumping the start

8:14

The top-four are single file nose-to-tail with Kasten, Russell, Rogers and Moore.

8:13

GREEN FLAG:  Kasten gets a great jump on the high side and clears Russell, but Russell pokes a nose under her in one and can’t make it stick.

8:12

Now we’re one lap to green:  Kasten chooses the outside groove.  Russell will restart to her inside.

8:12

Restart waved off for another lap

8:12

One lap to green.

8:11

Running order under yellow:  Kasten, Russell, Moore, Rogers and Nasse in the top-five.  6-10 are Sergi, Finney, Marks, David Russell and Bruce Gowland.

8:09

YELLOW FLAG Lap 17:  Ronnie Rihn has come up smoking on the frontstretch.

8:08

Lap 17:  Russell get s amuch

8:08

HALFWAY Lap 15:  Kasten is ahead of Russell, who appears to be cooling his tires after making a charge at Kasten several laps earlier.

8:07

Lap 13:  Kasten still leads Russell by two carlengths still.  Moore is 20 carlengths behind the leaders.

8:07

THE LIVE RADIO BROADCAST WILL BEGIN 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE START OF THE ACT FEATURE.  WE WILL PROVIDE A LINK CLOSER TO AIR TIME.

8:06

10 laps in, 20 to go:  Kasten leads again by two carlengths.  Moore is third, Rogers fourth, Nasse fifth.  Sergi, Finney, Marks, David Russell run behind the leaders.

8:06

Lap 9:  Russell is on the back bumper of Kasten as they put another lap on Russ Shaw.

8:05

Lap 8:  Kasten, shooting a shower of sparks as she runs into the corner, leads Russell by a carlength.

8:05

Lap 5:  Side-by-side for third – Moore on the inside, Nasse on the high side.  Give Moore the spot.

8:04

Lap 4:  Kasten and Russell have lapped Russ Shaw.  Nasse, Moore and Rogers battle for third.

8:04

Lap 3:  Russell has reeled in Kasten.  These two battled for the win last night in that 30-lapper.

8:04

Lap 1:  Russell followed Kasten past Nasse, who runs third ahead of Ryan Moore.

8:03

GREEN FLAG: Nasse spins his tires as Kasten gets a jump on the outside groove to lead to the stripe to complete lap one.

8:03

Now Nasse is in his proper spot on the inside.

8:02

Stephen Nasse has brought the yellow flag back out before we even go green.  The leader is allowed to choose the inside or the outside on restarts, but Nasse wanted to choose the outside on the initial start – which is not allowed.

8:02

7:07

Comment From MaineACT

Haha, gotta love Curley’s drivers meetings. the 1st ACT Heat race is stacked with some good cars

7:06

In the driver’s meeting for the ACT Late Models, Tom Curley held up a yellow flag and made sure that all of the competitors in the field knew what it meant. “Trust me, you’re not going gain any positions under yellow,” said Curley. “You are just going to piss me off.”

7:02

Brian Hoar, who has won the last two ACT Late Model championships, is racing at New Smyrna for the first time in his career tonight. He has taken an instant liking to the track. “I love it!” Hoar told Speed51.com. “This is a great track.”

7:01

Two-time defending Oxford 250 winner Eddie MacDonald knows a thing or two about ACT Late Models, but he’s been struggling throughout practice today with a new-to-them #17 Late Model that his team is running here today. As he was pushing the car to the scales, we asked Eddie if things were going any better. “No!” came his short and simple answer.

7:01

Comment From Ted

Its great to see Tom playing with his toys…. just kidding Tom, I can’t wait to hear the race tonight

6:40

The sun sets over the parking lot tonight at New Smyrna Speedway.

6:38

More news from the Super Late Model pit area:  Stephen Nasse, who had been practicing Chazz Anderson’s Super Late Model throughout the day today because his #51 was crashed last night, has now withdrawn from tonight’s feature.  Anderson, who is from California and keeps his car in the Mooresville, NC shop of David “Buggy” Pletcher with Nasse’s, just found out that Nasse was going to be racing his car tonight and pulled the plug on that plan.

6:30

Tour-Type Modifieds and SK Modifieds are off tonight.  The Florida Modifieds do not qualify and will be set based on results from the last race with an invert.

6:30

Comment From 26

when do the mods qualify

6:29

Officials have corrected the invert for the Super Late Models, it was in fact a six.  That will put Stephen Nasse on the pole and David Rogers back in position six for the start.

6:11

We’re now hearing a bit of a discrepancy in the invert for the Super Late Models.  Track scoring officials have record of the invert being an eight, but some teams and folks in the pit area say Rogers pulled a six.  Officials are waiting until the driver’s meeting concludes to verify what the invert will in fact be.

5:54

We’re going to take a brief break, attend the ACT driver’s meeting and prepare for the broadcast of the ACT race later tonight.  We’ll be back shortly.

5:51

There is still one more competitor left to draw, but we will post the line-ups when they become available.

5:51

Comment From Jerrad Ledger

Have you heard if they’ve drawn for the ACT Heats, and if you have do you know them.

5:43

Those were the drivers who took part in that final ACT practice, which was only about 15 minutes long. Not every team took part in the session.

Comment From OttawaFan

ACT final practice results posted at 4:13 – is this all the drivers? I’m looking for Tim Dorning (#88) … don’t see him in the list?

5:43

The Super Late Model invert was an eight, putting Brian Finney on the pole and fast timer David Rogers to eighth.

Comment From Matthew DIllner

Was just on the grid for NASCAR Sprint Cup Qualifying. A lot of northeast native/Modified guys were interested in whats goin on out there. LOTS of Mod graduates out there working with these teams. A few have made it out there. A few others have been following the coverage on Speed51.com.

4:35

Ron Silk is now out on the track with his #6 Tour-type Modified for a few hot laps.

matt tifft wont be qualifying or racing tonight due to a blown engine in practice which was caused primarily by a drive shaft break in friday nights race

4:28

The Super Late Model teams are starting to roll their cars through tech and out to the starting grid before their qualifying is set to start around 5pm.

4:26

Jimmy Zacharias is also taking hot laps with his Tour-type Modified.

Jerrick Johnson is also on the track in a blue number 76, however he does not have a transponder so it might not be a Super Late Model.

1:42

The Super Late Models are now on track at low speeds for their practice pace laps.

1:40

The Tour-type Modifieds are not racing here tonight, but last night’s winner Ted Christopher is still here to hit the track. He plans to practice this afternoon to try out a few changes with the car.

1:39

Ted Christopher ducks into the cockpit of Joey Pole’s ACT Late Model to share a word during practice. (51 Photo)

1:17

Absolutely.  There is not a cloud in the sky and temperatures are in the 60’s today here in New Smyrna.  It’s a perfect day, especially considering the cold and snowy weather back home for many of these New England and Canada-based teams of the ACT tour.

1:16

Comment From Brian P

Looks like nice blue Sky in PIC

1:16

With just about 15 minutes remaining in practice, Patrick Laperle is still quickest with his Ford Crate Engine #91 with a lap of 19.277.  Labbe, Polewarczyk, Roberge and Helliwell are in the top-five.

1:14

On the way down to Florida, Kyle DeSouza’s team stopped in South Carolina to check out Dillon Motor Speedway. They talked to track officials and got to enjoy some real Southern hospitality when they were invited to unload and test their car. DeSouza spent about two hours testing at the track before loading back up to head to New Smyrna.

Brian Hoar is the defending ACT Late Model Champion. (51 Photo)

1:12

Canadian Donald Theetge doesn’t have an Chevy Impala, Ford Fusion or even a Dodge Charger under him this week for the ACT Late Model race. Theetge is running an ABC body, but it is decaled up as a Honda Accord since Theetge is a Canadian Honda dealer.

1:10

The ACT Late Models have perimeter chassis and run on a spec Koni shock with Goodyear eight-inch slick tires.  Approved ACT crate engines are the GM ZZ4 and the new Ford S347JR.  The cars must weight 2850lbs.

1:10

Comment From pete clements

what can you tell us about the specs/rules on the ACT’s. Motor, tires, chassis basics. Just curious.

1:10

This will be the first race event where two-time defending ACT Late Model champion Brian Hoar and Maine youngster Austin Theriault will be teammates under the RPM Motorsports banner. The Rick and Michelle Paya-owned team will run both drivers full-time in ACT this year with similar looking red and black Late Models. Hoar runs the #37 with Theriault sporting the #57.

1:08

Eddie MacDonald has a new body on his Late Model and a new black paint scheme. MacDonald has won a pair of Oxford 250s with an older style Pontiac Grand Prix body – a few years after such a body style was popular. So is this the end of the line for Eddie Mac’s Pontiac? Maybe not. “We still might have a bit of it for tomorrow,” said MacDonald. “We’ve got half a [Pontiac] nose kit in the trailer if we need it.”

1:06

Patrick Laperle is used to crossing over the border from his native Quebec to the United States to go racing, but his trip down to Florida this time was not a fun one. Laperle’s hauler got to the border at 5pm and they had to sit for several hours before being told that their paperwork was not acceptable and they could not cross until the next day when everything got straightened out.

1:04

No, Ron Fellows is Canadian and Aaron Fellows is from New Hampshire and primarily races at Twin State Speedway (NH). He is also a former PASS North regular.
