That will conclude our Trackside Now coverage from Caraway for the night. We’ll have more Modified coverage next Friday and Saturday with 51-powered NASCAR Home Tracks Race Central Live updates from the Town Fair Tire 100 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

The next Speed51.com Trackside Now event comes Monday and Tuesday with the Swiss Colony Howie Lettow Memorial 150 presented by raceteamgear.com from the Milwaukee Mile.

10:00
Former NWSMT racer Josh Nichols just won the 30-lap Southern Modified Lite feature. He has a lot of NWSMT support from Rockingham Boat, the Seuss family’s company in New Hampshire, and Gershow Recycling, the family business of JR Bertuccio in New York.
9:59
Second-place Kyle Ebersole:

“This is our best finish here at Caraway and it breaks our string of third-place finishes. You’ve got to be perfect to beat George here. We’re gaining on it, we’re getting better and we’ve got two more races here this year to get it done.”

9:45
Brunnhoelzl also won the Independence Day NWSMT race at Caraway last year, which came just a few weeks after young Riley was born. Riley recently celebrated her first birthday.
9:45

9:43
This was a win for Brunnhoelzl in a brand-new racecar. The last time before tonight that the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour ran here at Caraway, Brunnhoelzl won after some late-race fireworks with Tim Brown. Brown tangled with Brunnhoelzl after the checkered flag and Brunnhoelzl’s car was destroyed in both the front and rear clips. The team spent the NWSMT “Summer Vacation” time between races getting this new car together.
9:40
Seuss’ side:

“I’m upset with myself,” said Seuss. “Maybe I wasn’t patient enough, but I tried to run him as clean as I could and I came out on the short end of the stick. I was biding my time and I think we had him caught. We always race clean and we’ll continue to race clean. I probably just raced a little too clean and sacrificed myself. Maybe I could’ve just settled for second, but this team isn’t about settling for second. We’ll keep going and we’ll take this No. 11 to the front next race.”

9:38
George Brunnhoelzl, III’s reaction to the late-race incident between his No. 28 and Andy Seuss’ No. 11 while battling for the lead.

“I hate it for those guys,” said Brunnhoelzl. “I was having problems down the straightaway and my car wouldn’t run. He was on the inside of me and I didn’t know. By the time I knew, it was too late. We had a great car, but I hate that we got together. We barely touched, but the end result was I hate it for them.”

The richest race in the history of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) is coming July 20-21…it’s the ACT International 500 at Plattsburgh, New York’s Airborne Speedway. The ACT Invitational is the new “mid-summer classic” for ACT teams when old rivalries between the US and Canada, and new rivalries between veteran favorites and brash new-comers from both the US and Quebec-based ACT organizations are re-established at Airborne.

The International 500 is also featuring a Monza-style twin 50-lap Airborne Modified feature event and a 100-lap non-qualifier “Reserve Feature” for ACT Late Model teams who do not qualify for the main event. Both events will post over $20,000.00 in purse and prize money. The 40 lucky teams who qualify for the “Milk Bowl”-style feature will run three 100-lap inverted races that make up the 300. A minimum of $25,000.00 to the overall winner in the unique event has been posted.

There will be a 10-minute work session for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour teams to make any adjustments necessary to their cars before we go racing tonight. That is scheduled to start momentarily.

Race tires were impounded after last night’s rain out and distributed back to the teams earlier today.

7:40
NASCAR star Clint Bowyer will mix it up on track with some of New England and Canada’s best short trackers in the 2013 Vermont Lottery Commission Governor’s Cup race, Thursday night July 11th at Barre, Vermont’s Thunder Road International Speedbowl. Nick Sweet leads the list of top Thunder Roadsters with whom Bowyer will have to deal. Winner of the Governor’s Cup in two of the last three years, he is considered a strong favorite for the 2013 tilt.

Brooks Clark, Derrick O’Donnell and Emily Packard are among the new names who will be featured in the event, along with Cody Blake, Dave Pembroke, Trampas Demers, Chip Grenier and Phil Scott. They are part of the 30-member cast expected for the 150 laps for what has proven to be one of the season’s best races.

By virtue of being second in points, Kyle Ebersole will start on the outside pole tonight.

Without practice since last night’s rain showers washed off any rubber that would’ve been on the track, Ebersole knows that his No. 5 car may not handle exactly the same way when the green flag flies tonight as it did in practice yesterday afternoon.

“We’ll start off not expecting to be perfect, but hopefully we can make the appropriate adjustments at the halfway break to be good at the end,” said Ebersole.

One of the most prestigious Super Late Model events in the country celebrates its 30th running in 2013 on a newly rescheduled date of August 10. It’s the World Crown 300 at Jefferson, Georgia’s Gresham Motorsports Park. Jeremy Gerstner is a relative newcomer on the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, but he’s been around the Florida Modified racing scene for years. He is a multiple-time winner and champion throughout Florida, a region whose Modifieds are more like an IMCA-style Modified than the NASCAR Tour-Type Mods. The main difference between those cars and the Tour Mods like he’s racing tonight?

“Our Florida Modifieds are all about no bite,” said Gerstner. “We’re loose, sideways, all the time. These cars are tight all the time and we’re constantly trying to figure out how to loosen it up.”

7:25
Brandon Ward was quick in practice yesterday, but will have to start at the rear of the field because the Fishel Motorsports No. 44 team is only running part-time on the NWSMT.

“We were really disappointed the rain came and it kind of messed us up not qualifying,” said Ward. “But we’ve got a good car and Jim Hire and all the guys have worked really hard. We’ll do the best we can to take it to the front.”

Last night here at Caraway, BJ Mackey led the first 100 laps of the Daggett and Shuler Rusty Harpe Memorial 171 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model event. Rains came in and put a halt to the event 71 laps short of the scheduled finish, but because the event had reached the halfway point, Mackey was given the win.

To recap how Mackey scored the win and re-live all of yesterday’s practice and qualifying action from the Late Models as well as practice for the NWSMT cars, check out a replay of Friday’s Trackside Now coverage:

There is one update to that starting lineup.  The 02 of Tim Brown has withdrawn from the event.  Today is not only Tim’s birthday, but it’s also his wedding day.  Tim and Megan Flynt (now Brown) are getting married as we speak and the T&C Motorsports team will not be competing in this event today.  It is a big day for their driver and Megan, a longtime Brown Motorsports team member, so the team decided to not compete so they can all participate in the ceremonies.  On behalf of  all of us atSpeed51.com, congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Brown.
