NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying is now underway. Gary McDonald is the first car on track.
5:06
Several NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour drivers who are at NHMS today spent last night in Lowell, Massachusetts as the special guests during “NASCAR Night” for the Boston Red Sox-affilated Lowell Spinners baseball team. The drivers signed autographs, met fans and even took part in mini-car races on the field between innings. Among those drivers who were there were Ryan Preece, Andy Seuss, Sergio Pena, Joey Pole, Richie Pallai, Glen Reen and Ryan Gifford. You can check out a photo gallery from the night on the Speed51.com Facebook page.
5:04
One of the biggest threats for the pole, and the race win, in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour ranks this weekend will be Bobby Santos, III. Here’s why. Santos was one of the quickest drivers in Mod practice. He’s won three of the first four WMT races on the schedule and placed second in the other one. Santos has raced several times at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in recent years, scoring three top-10 finishes in six races with a best finish of fourth in 2007. His No. 4 Mystic Missile Racing Dodge team has also won the last three consecutive New England 100 races. How can you argue with those stats?
4:57
That completes NASCAR K&N Pro Series East qualifying. Brett Moffitt has set fast time, followed by DJ Shaw, Max Gresham, Ryan Gifford and Ty Dillon. Stay tuned for full resultsThe NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour cars will go live for qualifying in just a few minutes.
