A few Mod drivers said that the first handful of laps in tonight’s Modified race will be interesting. With the K&N East Series running their race beforehand, the rubber they lay down may cause the Mods to slip and slide until they get their Hoosier rubber layed down.

1:54

Max Gresham was a very happy camper after getting his pole award. He just narrowly edged his teammate Brett Moffitt. He tells us his car could be better on the long runs but believes they will get it right for the main event.

We are hearing from Darrell Wallace Jr. that his car is really good. They will be making some changes as it is a little tight getting into the corner. It is also very consistent on long runs according to his spotter.

10:38

A handful of teams are working on qualifying setups during this East Series session. Getting a clean lap at this tight Virginia oval will be as much of a challenge as finding speed.

10:37

Good news for Ryan Gifford, he finished in the top five here a year ago. If he can score a good finish today he will get out of the gates in good shape for the points battle. The season will be only 10 race this year so have a off night could end anyone’s chance at a title.

10:23

Comment From Chris Good luck to Burt and Jason Myers today also Brett Moffitt in the East race

10:23

We have been watching spotters do the dance at the flag stand as 25 come up to spot and 25 go back to the pits. So far things have been very smooth today here at SoBo.

10:23

The red and black flags are out here at South Boston Speedway. This ends the Modified practice and at last check James Civali had the fastest time.

10:13

We hope you plan on coming to the track today if you are in the area. The forcast is great, mostly sunny with temperatures rising towards the low 80s.

10:09

South Boston Speedway will be a busy place this year with the USARacing Pro Cup cars coming here on both June 12th and November 6th. The track will also host special Late Model Stock events on July 2nd and October 16th. Super Late Models will also run here on August 28th.

9:51

The Modified are back on the track for their final round of practice.

9:50

Ty Dillon was not in the top five ad was super tight according to spotter Mike Herman Jr. They are going to work at freeing the car up in hopes of gaining speed in the final session.

9:49

Cole Whitt had the fastest time with a speed of 89.219. Last year’s winner Brett Moffit, Eddie MacDonald, Ryan Gifford and Max Gresham rounded out the top five.

9:45

The first practice session for the East Series is over. We will have the speeds for you shortly.

We have another stoppage for debris here at South Boston Speedway in the East Series practice. Other then the debris the track has been clean and green today.

9:27

We don’t have speeds yet, we will pass them along to you when we get them.

9:27

Comment From randy who was the fastest in the mods

9:24

There were lots of good stories at Greenville last week we don’t know where to begin. Darrell Wallace Jr. got quite a bit of attention with his victory, but guys like Cole Whitt running third and DJ Shaw ending up fifth were just as impressive. Shaw has his dad Dale, a 1994 Champion of this series on top of his pit box.

9:20

Our photo man Matt Dillner is working the pits and we’ll have more shots of the action soon.

9:18

Comment From Boo Can we get a pic of Burt Myers?

9:17

We have gone red again with more debris, this time in turn one.

9:15

We just a quick little break in the action to clean up some debris in turn two. Practice is back underway.

We see that Jeff Anton has smoke coming out of his car here on pit road. The crew has fixed the problem and returned to the practice line at the end of pit road.
