Just getting word from Ricky Brooks that Lat Model tech has cleared.
10:41
As post tech continues, the Super Stock feature has wrapped up with Bubba Winslow taking the victory.
10:39
Pollard told us that non of the three were over that line but it’s kind of their job to be close, as close to the line without breaking the rule.
10:38
The top three finishers were all pulled aside by Ricky Brooks. Brooks informed the drivers that their left side weight measurements are getting close to the edge of breaking the rules.
10:29
After talking with Mike Garvey in post race, we’ve learned that he lost a gear at lap 51, setting the chain of events into motion.
10:02
CHECKERS: After saying that he held back too much last night, Bubba Pollard holds back nothing, scoring yet another victory in the Deep South.  Win number 12 of 2011.  Garvey takes second and Fultz in third.  Going down trackside… much more to come here on Speed 51!

Augie Grill has rejoined the field.
9:44
Track clean up is almost complete… the cars are refiring and rolling behind the pace car.
9:44

9:43
Comment From Michael Wimberley

Any damage done to the #39 car of Kenzie Ruston?

9:43
This race had the look of going caution free until Jess Reid tossed a rag onto the track in turn three.   From that point, we have tried to get lap 51 completed three times.  Lap 51… yeah, interesting!  Thanks for joining us on Speed 51!

During this red flag, Augie Grill refires his car and heads to pit road.  Thomas Praytor has also been in the pits during this time.
9:40

No, Jerry Artuso suffered major suspension damage in an early accident at Five Flags Speedway last night.  The team based out of Ontario Canada only completed a handful of laps.  Team member, and GARC Motorsports fabricator Elliott Davis told us that Artuso said the car just snapped coming off of turn four.  The unexpected accident makes the team believe that they had a parts failure in the back of the car, causing the crash.
6:02
Comment From Mark

No Jerry Artuso tonight? Was car wrecked bad last night at 5 Flags?

Currenlty at the speedway…. Bomber division qualifying.

Bubba Pollard shakes down the racer he last raced at Berlin Speedway in Marne (MI) for the Rowdy 251. (Speed51.com Photo)
6:01
Fourth fastest in practice, Bubba Pollard is looking to put last night’s disapointment behind him.  Pollard finished third in Pensacola but felt like he held back a little too long, letting the leader build too great a lead.

Here at Mobile, Pollard said the car is great.  With a such a good feeling car, the Ronnie Sanders Racing used some the practice to shake down one of their rebuilt racers.  That car being the same car that Pollard raced in the Rowdy 251 in Marne (MI) at Berlin Raceway.  It was also the same car adorned with the 08 colors of the late Beau Slocumb.

Pollard told Speed51 that this was in preperation of the next visit to the racetrack as they prefer to have their car setup coming off the trailer.

Thomas Praytor had a rough race in Pensacola last evening.  Praytor was one of eight cars involved in a pile up on lap 13.  The crash ended his night and has forced his Max Force Racing team to bring a backup for tonight’s race here in Mobile.

“We were racing really hard I was on the outside and they started stacking up in front us I hit the guy in front of me with the left front and that shot me into the wall with the right front, said Praytor.”

5:36
After practice concluded, Josh Bragg was given a couple of courtesy laps to shake down his car after spinning earlier.

No rain.  Thick clouds, but no rain.  Fans are already filing into the grandstand, as the overcast sky has brought some much needed shade to the race track.  Looks as though any possible storms will fly by, but do not look to be a factor tonight.  I say come on out to the track!

In case you missed it, Chase Eliott captured the checkered flag in the first race of this weekend’s doubleheader, the Rubber & Specialites 100 at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola (FL).

Elliott took the lead from Augie Grill late, using lapped traffic to make the insie pass on the front stretch.  Until that point, Grill had dominated the event, with Elliott following close behind.

Both drivers are here today at Mobile.

Track Officials just held the driver’s meeting.  Standard affair of items for tonight’s field.

Track manager Rick Crawford unveiled the trophy for the upcoming Lee Fields Memorial 150.  The September 2-3 Pro Late Model event honors long time promoter Lee Fields, who also managed local wrestling circuits here in the south.  As a tribute to Fields, the winner of the Lee Fields Memorial will receive a unique wrestling champions belt, adorned with Mobile International Speedway livery.  Additionally, the field will be racing for Super Late Model sized purse.

We were a little late getting online today thanks in part to a massive thunderstorm in the Mobile area.  Here at the speedway, the clouds pass in the distance away from the track and the sun is shining… the current temperture at the speedway is in the mid-90s.
